As long as companies lean on leetcode for the basis of their hiring pipeline these critical human traits will forever be underdeveloped in tech 😢
If I had to identify a list of skills in high impact engineers, it would include:
- ecological awe
- intellectual humility
- respect for the complexity of unfamiliar problems
- cross functional communication
- resilience engineering
- marketing and sales
(“Technical skills” aren’t in my top ten)
*exception being a 2nd monitor turned vertically for Outlook, Slack, YouTube, etc.
Otherwise give me a single ultrawide over 2 or 3 “normal” monitors any day
I alternate between laptop and ultrawide.
Anytime I’m doing lots of comparisons or copy pastes the ultrawide is a life saver.
I find I’m least productive on multi monitor setup*
