I think before you build an Arc de Triomphe you should be able to identify at least un (1) triomphe
Don't sh!t on your base challenge for Dems. Difficulty level: impossible.
That the president of the United States is personally looting the treasury to the tune of literally billions of dollars and that he is not being immediately removed from office and tried for high crimes against this country is a devastating indictment of every part of our political system!
Whoever coined the term "drama queen" clearly never witnessed a man who was just told no.
Today, in intellectual diversity.
Anyways it is interesting that calls for heterodoxy and “viewpoint diversity“ rarely result in pushing for funding the most ideological heterodox and contentious spaces, such as Black studies and Gender studies.
Again: for any big liberal donor who wants to funnel millions into fixing this country's politics, the ROI on buying any struggling paper and simply tasking it with doing real reporting on local news is vastly higher than the same $$ given to some group that does mass ad buys every election year.
The Constitution and a court order both say that the Everglades detention facility must allow people access to their attorneys.
Instead of complying, guards are cutting off people’s phone access and beating people who speak up.

Is this the health care plan, at long last?
How did scholars, inventors, and artists ever produce anything new and noteworthy before the phrase “viewpoint diversity” was coined? Did they have access to some other magic words that ensured their work would automatically reflect the “correct” number of views?
1. People are not entitled to due process before I decide whether or not I like or dislike them or will vote for them.
2. My process of deciding whether I believe an allegation is not subject to the Federal Rules of Evidence.

You don't spend hundreds of millions of dollars on a campaign to shift public opinion and then get to claim the resulting shift in public opinion was organic. That's the entire game and Singal just plays along because he sadistically loves to rub it in to trans people and victim blame them.
A screenshot of an article from The Dispatch. The headline reads "Trans Issues Are No Conspiracy," with the subheadline, "The public pays attention to trans issues because trans activists wanted them to." It is categorized under "Society & Culture."
Jesse Singal is back on his transphobic bullshit by arguing that the trans rights backlash is self-inflicted and that anyone pointing to coordinated right-wing funding is peddling a "conspiracy theory." It's a masterclass in false dichotomy and victim blaming.

since it looks like it's getting relitigated yet again: Al Franken constituent here, glad he resigned, his behavior was foul, his replacement was fantastic, if you're defending him you're fortifying a stupid hill in the wrong battle
Screenshot of the NY Times from 4/10/26. Three stories about war in iran, including one that says schools are being bombed, next to a feature about a couple who met at the grammys.
Heck of a juxtaposition.
honestly just an excuse to eat french fries. I say cut to the chase and order only fries.
Pandas are wildly overrated.
Yes, and the Biden Administration participated in the smear, refused to explicitly disavow the meritless theory that Title VI somehow requires institutions to suppress 1A protected speech, and made a show of entering into settlements with universities that required them to tamp down protests.
Our PhD student Kennedy Orwa, who studies applications of AI to health care, was hastily deported today to Kenya along with his 13-year-old son without opportunity to speak to legal counsel.
King 5 reports that he held a valid visa that was rescinded without explanation.
I'm just a simple country lawyer but I would have thought a cease fire would involve a cessation of firing.
So we can all sleep well--no war crimes tonight! It's as if the Dread Pirate Roberts were president: "Good night, fellow Americans! I'll most likely kill you in the morning!"
in persian culture, telling someone "we're going to kill you all" is considered deeply offensive
The original post says "we" fought a war to end slavery, I think as a rebuttal to the idea that "we" have always been the bad guys. I don't find it to be a good rebuttal because (a) who is this "we" and (b) half the country fought to preserve slavery.
The same "we" as the comment I was responding to. Apparently the mythical "we" of US society we're supposed to feel optimistic about.
None of my ancestors was in the US before 1900 but okay.
Okay but if memory serves, we also fought a war with our own families to preserve slavery.
When is the @nytimes.com editorial board going to call for Trump to be removed from office? If announcing an intent to commit war crimes is not case for removal, what is?
