i've drifted proship or at least fencesitter out of the fact that any content moderation beyond "tag your shit appropriately" is a slippery slope because *gestures at Bluesky consent fiasco* and that's a belief i've honestly held for a while before this.
on the bright side i get the impression people broadly care a bit less about that stuff now. the end of VTwitter meant a lot of my circle just being less online in general and i don't think anyone has the energy to care for this sort of thing these days.
yeah VTwitter was a microcosm of agony that i hope will not occur again. the "transgender basically-just-fursona-roleplay-but-pretending-we're-famous" side of the community vs the "HitlerCunny1488" side of the community was a novel set of conditions that really did no good for anyone.
i know i'm being hush-hush even now by keeping this to replies but like this isn't something that it feels like i'm in the position to just announce. the fact that i could piss a couple otherwise nice people off aside it's not like anyone's gonna tune into Northy Direct: Sex Update.
it's been ideologically convenient that everyone i've met on that side of the fence *except you and Jatta* has consistently been a massive chud, even if it's probably confirmation bias. that and the fact that i'm obviously averse to actually seeing the subject matter has kept me out of it.

look if it's gotta be in writing i'm a snuff fetishist i *have* to have some degree of "fantasy isn't indicative of reality" and i hope everyone around me clocked that by now, and i think a laissez faire approach to content moderation platform-side is best.
i got psyched out about doing it myself eventually but i ended up transitioning shortly after another thing that required twelve billion blood tests so i was certainly fairly accustomed to other people doing it pretty early on.

With printed media, you can just store it in a warehouse. When some company says "we never said that," you can go to the archives, fetch a newspaper, and that ends the argument. When the companies on their websites change stories, there is no archive outside the Internet Archive.
Gotta stress again how a lot of the kindest, most welcoming, most respectful, and most supportive friends I’ve met online are actually those who are into icky gross disgusting problematic fiction. They're the best and honestly the chillest people to be around. I feel safer when I'm around them.
