I went the other way. I've just about gotten used to it after a decade, but I can't force myself to go to bed and sleep before 12.30 or 1am.
Luckily, I only have to get up at 6am 3 days in a row, and then I get a reprieve. Otherwise 5hrs of sleep would be, let's just say 'unsustainable'.

To be clear, I understand that individuals in this can't do much and feel powerless. No magic wand, obvs. Just "we can't do anything" feels off when the collective USA is the only force that *can* change it and when that very power to change is what is what we're told makes the USA "special".

My country is also a corrupt shitshow, don't get me wrong, and I'm not saying folks should go out and get themselves killed.

But revolutions do happen, and the USA is supposedly founded on that ideal. The rest of the world is rightly terrified and has been wondering where the line is for years now.

When the world wonders why so many Americans are murdered by gun crime, we're told that US citizens must be allowed to have guns so that they can do a revolution as and when necessary, and that the ability to fight back against a corrupt government is a cornerstone of American freedom.

I dunno. Maybe that was a local/cultural thing. Calling someone a "perfectionist" was never a compliment, anyway.

This is interesting, because I don't think I've ever encountered perfectionism as a positive trait.

For me anyway, as much as I remember, it's always meant an inhibiting obsession at worst, or a waste of time at best. Maybe a bit embarrassing? A bit self-agrandising to reach for perfection?

I think it's just because "idea" means too many things.
