My first article for New Bloom Magazine is out today! After having contributed photography I'm excited to dip my toes into the written form. Thank you @brianhioe.bsky.social for the opportunity!

Oh, trio is off due to apparent Chinese pressure? That’s a new form of diplomatic pressure that hasn’t happened here before if that’s the case
Important that this was commemorated in Taiwan, even as focusing attention on Palestine continues to be difficult here
Who did it better? The cop who accidentally pepper sprayed Ko? Or the temple guy who accidentally threw up on Lai? Which politician will be next?
Unfortunate that sports in Taiwan continues to be so murky and unaccountable to workers
Also tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
Some cases involving the status of individuals with Chinese nationality have come up lately

Lengthy, insightful read on Vijay Prashad’s campism at work in the Iranian context. Since I am more familiar when it comes to China, this is very helpful
Unfortunate that New Taipei City authorities invited a pro-junta singer to perform at Thingyan in Taipei’s “Myanmar Street”
Lastly INCYMI @thepeopleswant.bsky.social launched their manifesto "Revolutions of Our Times: An Internationalist Manifesto" earlier this week. Well worth listening to Morteza, Rindela, Roula & @brianhioe.bsky.social talk about it & the challenges in their contexts & transnational solidarity.

“Intellectualism caught with its pants off” is how I would phrase it
It is a sign of how Wang has become an unsophisticated nationalist ideologue that he shares the same stage as Kaiser; the nation-state is the master narrative and so mediocrity prevails lol
I preferred Wang Hui and Daniel Bell lol. I find it deeply ironic when Liang Qichao and Lu Xun are drawn on in the same comments because of the abstraction projected backward into time that is China. Also, Kaiser really longs for sophistication lol

Nature is healing.
No reason except pure racism to claim the presence of 1000 Indian migrant workers will cause "social problems". More than 1000 Indians visit Taiwan every month already without a single issue.
Hmmm, feels like the Baishatun Mazu pilgrimage really blew up this year. I wonder if it’s seen as more unique than the Dajia Mazu pilgrimage due to the lack of a set route. I also note backlash against the Dajia Mazu pilgrimage due to its association with the Yen family
After all, what did Taiwan do except back the authoritarian monarchy? And Eswatini would not be persuaded by abstractions about democracy. Does the Lai administration think that Eswatini’s monarchy will be in power forever?
While always crowing “Taiwan can help”, this is a way that Taiwan could pressure for changes using its economic and political heft in Eswatini. As it is, a future democratic Eswatini would probably switch relations to China immediately
It is unfortunate that while the Lai administration touts Taiwan as a democracy, it backs an authoritarian absolute monarch in Eswatini, who murders dissidents in a manner not so different than what the KMT did during authoritarian times. Life expectancy has halved under his rule
