One of my favorite things: abandoned concrete military forts. Old pitted concrete and rusting metal slathered in decay and constant dripping. Incredibly contrasts of light and dark.

Larches from late October, Swauk Forest Discover trail
Larches are deciduous conifers that turn bright yellow at the end of fall.
The color of these greatly confused my camera.

Very delighted by the strange s-curve of larches down the mountain.

Fortson WA
Fishing ponds with decaying pilings and the decorated structures of an old mill.
Quiet, except for croaking ravens, a few fisherman bouncy over the rutted road and constant white noise gurgle of water.

Rattlesnake Ridge
Beautiful winter smudgy views, the distance kissed by wildfire haze.
The lake below, a graveyard of trees and town, long flooded and abandoned.
