We are not done yet! The Charter Review Special Committee is still meeting with community to share the work to date and listen to residents. Join us tonight virtually at 6pm (link in bio) or on April 14th 6pm at Freedom Temple Church AME Zion Church.
Baltimore deserves world class governance. Our legislation was informed by community listening sessions in churches, schools and libraries. We seek to modernize local government and deliver excellence to the people we serve. (2/2)
Today, alongside my colleagues, I was proud to introduce legislation to amend the City Charter—our local constitution, truly The People’s Document. (1/2)

One of the things I'm most proud of: Baltimore's commitment to becoming a Healing City.
Join us for a convo on how the Elijah Cummings Healing City Act is already changing lives, the impact of the P.A.T.H. Pilot Program, & what trauma-informed care looks like when public & private orgs work together
If you have an opinion on how government can better serve Baltimore, please share your ideas by attending tonight’s community input session at Enoch Pratt Herring Run at 6pm or by emailing.
The City Charter is the People's Document. It sets the rules for how decisions are made and how public dollars are handled.
My mom is my hero. So much of who I am comes from watching how she lived. She had a zest for life and always stood up for the outsider. I appreciate everyone’s prayers and understanding during this time. Don’t forget to tell the people you love how much you love them.
The Baltimore City Council will postpone the Committee of the Whole hearing originally scheduled this evening at 5:30 PM. My mother, who has been battling terminal cancer, declined early Wednesday morning. My family and I will attend to her and cherish our remaining time together.
Today at 4PM we'll hold a hearing to explain the law. This legislation will not target good landlords or landlords that are trying to make improvements. We welcome anyone who wants to invest in housing in Baltimore. But we will demand that tenants are treated with respect and dignity.
Residents at Hanover Square Apartments have dealt with bedbugs, a broken HVAC and a dysfunctional elevator since the summer. That’s why we passed the Strengthening Renters' Safety Act. The new law will protect vulnerable residents and hold negligent landlords accountable.
Had a great meeting with our new House Speaker Joselyn Peña-Melnyk about the staggering cost of BGE bills on Baltimoreans.
I presented ideas on how the legislature can rein in costs for consumers and hold this monopoly accountable.
Excited to work together as fellow Presiding Officers 😊
But through collaboration, my former council district office worked with the Patterson Park Neighborhood Association, Councilman Mark Parker, and other neighbors to prevent Eidlisz from developing a bogus apartment complex. Oversight matters.
Regulators let housing hustler Benjamin Eidlisz slip through the cracks, and hundreds of Baltimore homes tied to him are now in foreclosure.
As the first Jewish Council President in over 40 years, I’ve personally experienced antisemitic threats on my life. And our immigrant neighbors are under assault. Antisemitism and Islamophobia are at an all time high. 2/3
The only way out is to embrace each other as neighbors. I refuse to live in fear. I refuse to let the darkness snuff out the light. I love our beautiful, complex, diverse city. Shalom. 3/3
Hanukkah is the celebration of light. Yet we are living through a moment of profound darkness. 11 Jews were just murdered in Australia. I spent part of last week having Nazi insignia removed from a billboard in Baltimore. 1/3
Last night, Mayor Scott swore in the Trauma Informed Care Taskforce. I’m honored to serve alongside these amazing Baltimoreans to help our city heal. From supporting training in our agencies and hospitals, to helping develop a best in class crisis response system, we are ready to work!
BGE's parent company Exelon is reporting historic stock returns, yet plans to lay off 72 Baltimore-area full time staff this spring. Make it make sense.
Meanwhile, residents pay for it as BGE delivery rates skyrocket. There’s the dad whose BGE bill skyrocketed to $1,200, who worries about keeping his home… 2/4
The senior had to choose between medical oxygen and her $750 electric bill. There are families that have to choose between heating their homes or buying holiday presents… 3/4
Today, PIRG and I called on the Public Service Commission to step up and do their job. Cancel the planned 2026 rate increase and freeze the rates… 4/4
Every time BGE tears up Baltimore’s streets to replace pipes, they make more money. Don’t take my word for it, take their most recent public earnings statement – BGE’s 3rd quarter profits increased by 82% since last year… 1/4

One thing about Baltimore is that we claim the legendary #LadyDay. Thank you Yewande Kotun Davis for this moving portrait of Billie Holiday. Be sure to visit the next time you find yourself in Upper Fells Point.
I was proud to speak at the State of BCF to celebrate the Neighborhood Spotlight Awards.
From early childhood education to violence prevention, Baltimore Community Foundation is a partner in this work and I am proud to stand with them.
