NEW: A new pre-print study offers the first causal evidence that outsourcing reasoning tasks to AI can rapidly erode users' independent performance AND their will to persist despite difficulty.
"Peopleโs persistence drops... theyโre also not willing to try without AI.โ

mzsibyl_ยฎ โบ โข: Al Threads 3d Tired of the Prompt Thieves in the Al art community. Seriously, the moment a great prompt is public, someone immediately copies it, shares it, and pretends it's their own genius work. It's not about gatekeeping, it's about giving credit where it's due. Stop stealing and start creating! #PromptStealer 1/2
OscarAl @Artedeingenio X.com Never do this: Passing off someone else's work as your own. This Grok Imagine effect with the day-to-night transition was created by me โ and I'm pretty sure that person knows it. To make things worse, their copy has more impressions than my original post. Not cool
subscribe @Artedeingenio I don't know what you think, but this seems a bit unfel to me. My original post with the Saori Kido Athena prompt has 4,000 impressions, while @dvorahfr's post with an image created with my prompt has 30,000. As for not quoting me as the author, I'm not saying anything, because she has apologised. I would like to understand that it was an unintentional mistake, although I think I'm well enough known around here to use a prompt of mine without knowing it's mine. If I wasn't so well known, would there have been a rectification? I am afraid that many small accounts are stolen on a daily basis and nothing happens. But for a copy to be more widely distributed than the original is a very bad symptom. Without focusing on anyone, I think that some big accounts hardly create original content and just post other people's content, often without quoting the author, and that's very uncool. Respect and honesty above all else. Let's play fair.
AI sloppers (is that a term?) crying that their prompts are being stolen is more beautiful than anything AI could produce
๐ฃTHREAD: Itโs surprising to me that so many people were surprised to learn that Signal runs partly on AWS (something we can do because we use encryption to make sure no one but youโnot AWS, not Signal, not anyoneโcan access your comms).

People think the worst part of getting scammed is the financial lossโbut no one talks about the shame.
If someone were mugged on the street, you wouldnโt say, โHow could you be so dumb?โ So why do we treat online scams differently?

Rep. @brotherjones.bsky.social just spoke out about the Trump regime โkidnappingโ #KilmarAbregoGarcia and refusing to return him.
Today I learned why Shopify-powered dropshipping scams work:
Amex refuses to allow filing a chargeback when a webshop scams a customer by advertising an AI-generated image, sending something else... and then offering money back only if paying for shipping + tracking to a warehouse in China
I decided to start a #thread ๐งต of stories about legal residents and tourists being (illegally) arrested, detained and/or deported by the Trump regime. I'll only post stories from serious sources, as rumors and conspiracies are really not needed in this authoritarian moment.
Let's chat about Android phones. Not your personal preference for a phone. I don't care (seriously I don't. Please don't tell me) but why it's important to give support to Android apps that's comparable to iOS when it comes to accessibility.

Great post on error handling in #Kotlin. Sometimes I use standard lib Result if I don't care about the error but usually will use a sealed class like ApiResult<DataType, ErrorType> where ErrorType is an enum for exhaustive error handling. I like this other sealed class example too.
