Media trust has never been so low in this country.
But threatening to forcibly curtail content via the heavy hand of the federal government—a la some Russian- or North Korean-inspired trajectory—is not the solution.

With ICE poised to receive a massive infusion of cash courtesy the Republican spending bill, I figured it was worth documenting what they've been doing with the money they've currently got. Gift link: wapo.st/4lv53Wh
Press conferences keep getting weirder...
Amazing. I suppose I admire their love of their children...
Plenty of great points in this piece.

There is simply no reason any government official — much less the vice president — should be taking time to meet with a self-obsessed conspiracy theorist.
They just make shit up all day long.
🚨 BREAKING: With a smirk on her face, Republican Senator Joni Ernst responds to constituents saying people will die due to the GOP’s Medicaid and SNAP cuts: “Well, we all are going to die.”
In a remote stretch of Montana, USDA funding helped provide food for ~250 households on a reservation where the nearest supermarket is about 20 miles away.
Now, due to cuts, the tribe’s funding for local food purchases could run out within weeks.

ICYMI: "While the administration says the reduction in force 'was implemented to improve ‘efficiency’ and ‘accountability,’ the 'record abundantly reveals that Defendants’ true intention is to effectively dismantle the Department without an authorizing statute.'"

Could not agree more:
Don't really know what disparate impact is? Here are some examples.
1) My colleagues at @epi.org have shown that, even when accounting for education, the Black unemployment rate is persistently much higher the white unemployment rate. www.epi.org/publication/...
One of the pillars of American power is that the most ambitious and brilliant researchers on the planet come to our universities to learn and advance knowledge that drives our economy. Trump sent his goons after one who fled Russia's fascism. Many will leave.

Q: 60 Minutes found 75% of the migrants who were sent to El Salvador do not have criminal records. That true?
BONDI: They're not Venezuelan migrants. They're illegal aliens from Venezuela who should not have been in our country
Q: So you're confirming they didn't commit a crime?
BONDI: *leaves*
didn't have this on my bingo card either...
NEW: One million children will go untreated for severe malnutrition, up to 166,000 people will die from malaria and 200,000 more children will be paralyzed by polio over the next decade, internal memos estimated.
The USAID programs were cut anyway.

Your constituents are trying to share their views so...avoid them?
I don't know what half of this means, but I totally agree.
Sally is so fantastic. Excited to get to work with her at @openmarkets.bsky.social
Per Puck’s Leigh Ann Caldwell, Spartz flipped on the budget vote after Trump screamed at her:
“others could clearly hear the president’s voice screaming out of the speaker. She was a fake Republican derailing his agenda, he yelled. He was the president, he reminded her.”

It's completely delusional to think the internet brings people a broad set of views. Not with algorithms working the way they do. What a tool.
While Congress is home for recess, people have showed up at district offices, at state capitols, and more to protest GOP plans to cut public budgets and programs like Medicaid and SNAP in order to pay for tax cuts for the rich. And to resist DOGE, of course.
