Spent the last hour with my family outside looking at the sky in wonder. Moon, stars, planets. All of it. We used to do that often. Was definitely a better use of time than the other thing.

We originally had a metric we could all agree on (Cycle Time in our case) and we overindexed on it. That metric fell away when we got really good at it. Now it's creative socialization - "how many people agree you did something awesome?" - and our ceremonies support that now. Innovation as routine.
We've begun to refer to this as "Talent Density" and use it as a predictor of success through creativity. Higher Talent Density = less control and oversight = better overall results. It has been interesting to watch an org build towards it with intention.

It amazes me that people who can't figure out how to communicate with human devs thinks they will be able to figure out how to communicate with the next-generation search engine people are currently calling "AI". The human devs are probably the only thing keeping them from disaster in most cases.
This always drives me crazy. People are the magic, and leadership is a skill unto itself!

This Idiocracy sequel is nowhere near as funny as the original.
I found nearly 8,000 songs I'd ripped leading up to 2014 and spent around 30 hours getting them organized with MusicBee. I'm more convinced than ever that streaming should be a way to get music, but not the only way (which it has pretty much become).

My wife and I walked through the insanity for one of their shows during that. It was definitely a real thing that happened. Also, fantastic show, 9/10 would recommend.
