What I don't understand is how books get banned for "problematic themes," yet most streaming services & virtually all social platforms are full of problematic content. The only difference is when reading, there tends to be greater nuance in how its processed. idk

Wow. The phones, computers, tablets, tvs, and damn near everything with a power source are already listening. I'm just waiting for the implants that record our thoughts for "posterity."

The efficacy of carbon capture is laughable.

Big Oil: Let's just keep throwing around buzz words and misleading data around climate change solutions and hope people don't notice...yea...that's it. Let's do that.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

Apropos the Latest
What if I choose one sin per day:
mayonnaise or murder, or a tiny lie,
depending on factors. So far I have
not had the factors for murder
but I'm keeping a list.
Flattery is easier
but leaves a residue. Murder
tempts me with its completeness.

Queer Poetry by Gray Davidson Carroll - Rattle: Poetry Send us a queerer poem, the editor says. We love your writing but prefer the gay stuff.

Gray Davidson Carroll writes, "We want to know you're different."

Sometimes, you just want to talk about trees in your poetry.

The microaggressions in the U.S. were a nuisance. But, the abject racism here (Rome) is often surprising and hurtful.

I wasn't prepared.
