My friend has managed to do dual color marker lights in HO.
No reason you cant put more detail in if you want. I often do different little detaily things for each piece I build.
The 3' rule is "Does it look right from 3' away?" Fine detail usually cant be seen when its actually running on a layout.

Last step for coaches before a light weathering is diaphragms and air hoses.
Yes there should also be a steam and signal hose but it passes the 3' test and looks good on the layout.
