We’re receiving reports of dead and struggling birds on California beaches. Investigations are underway. So far, Southern California birds tested for bird flu are negative. This month, 60+ birds show signs of starvation. Here's what we know and what to look out for.

So far this month, more than 20 Brown Pelicans have been admitted to our LA Center, with others seeing similar increases. In past seasons, hundreds have arrived underweight or injured and we’re ready to help.

Pelicans can't tell us when they need help, so it's up to us to spot the signs.

Hummingbirds aren’t typical patients for us, but baby bird season arrived early.

This pair of Allen’s Hummingbird hatchlings showed up in a box on our doorstep, and we moved quickly to care for them.

Their beaks are so so small that drops from Q-tips kept them hydrated!
