I was curious.
AI: a boom or bubble?
I made a metric.
It has… opinions.

Hopefully others will follow the good examples of Cardiff and Paris
Interesting finding on the impact of London’s ULEZ expansion.
“… [it] led to increased footfall on local high streets, particularly in deprived areas, where the policy may have heightened reliance on nearby commercial hubs”
Argues creates new need/opportunity to invest in local town centres.
If you plan to respond to TfL Congestion Charge proposals (consultation ends 4th Aug), do have a look at our blog. Some good things in there from TfL but could go way further to make Central London safer and have a fairer balance between people and vehicles.

UCI only a step away from making this the official method of rouging the lanterne
🚲 There are millions of Londoners who want to cycle but still can’t, because their streets are still too dangerous; they still feel too vulnerable; or they can’t access a bike.
🙋♂️ Want this to change? Email the Mayor and call for him to be bolder on cycling: bit.ly/43YSUC7

New bike parking coming to Richmond station soon thanks to @richmondcouncil.bsky.social
Perhaps easier to identify 756x2 nominees for a one way trip to Pluto!
I did a bit of research on LHR capacity: 10-12% is UK domestic. 35% is transit. Ban mainland domestic flights, tax transit, frequent flyer tax. Polluter pays. And don’t expand LHR.
Instinct tells me that the short-haul distance would be much smaller, therefore more flights per person. My Eurocentric view thinks of all those business travellers hopping between London / Paris / Frankfurt. London-Paris is 350km. Busiest globally: 14.2m people flew Seoul-Jeju for 450km.
Agree completely. The outcome we want is a liveable planet and more equal distribution of wealth (cf growth). But in the meantime the narrative that growth and sustainability are diametrically opposed is not helping the cause.
I’m picturing a distillation setup to create different water mineral concentrations, then a series of rolls baked together to create a nice gradient of experimental results.
They would say it’s a false dichotomy
20mph speed limits in London has cut fatal & serious collisions by 25%. 🚲👨🦽➡️🚶❤️
And now car insurance companies are saying that it’s helping reduce the cost premiums because of fewer claims. 💷💷💷
I wonder how much this overlaps with the 27% who claim they could qualify for the olympics?!
It's because everyone's going to have extra fingers
The nearby rabies prevention sign warning not to bring animals ashore always makes me laugh, imagining exotic creatures choosing to immigrate at Teddington
Fascinating video! How risky is it for Remchukov to publish this?
Could be a smart move when it comes to whisky tariffs. And I'm sure the locals will bring placards to give Trump the welcome he deserves.
Huge Titan Arum with burgundy frilly flower (spathe) surrounding a pale green spadix inside a greenhouse
Amazing to see in the wild. I was lucky to see (and not smell) Kew’s Titan flowering this summer.
Good news, but @richmondcouncil.bsky.social must address pricing. It is crazy that a bike hangar space is more expensive than a car parking permit.
"The Hans Commission [to investigate scientific claims] consisted of a veterinarian, a circus manager, a cavalry officer, a number of schoolteachers, and the director of the Berlin zoological gardens."
This is how all panels and committees ought to be composed.
Congratulations to @lindafoundation.bsky.social for their new award, recognising their success in bringing 19 Afghan medical students to Scotland to continue their studies. An exceptional charity and the perfect place to buy your xmas cards.
This is why I’m always in awe of commentators who can pick riders out from the heli shots. 😵💫 Good luck!
@annamacb.bsky.social and @writebikerepeat.bsky.social and @hannah-walker.bsky.social are excellent on all things pro cycling and would be great additions to your starter pack
On the word cloud, sandwiched between 'Terrible', 'Chaos' and 'Poorly', someone correctly described the UK today as a 'Country'! I like to think this may have been a proud toddler who completed the research.
Thanks Duncan. Great to see this progress. Lots of good work from the council and police. I wonder what more could be achieved with a constructive and professional PCC?!
Bishops had 14% attendance and participated in 6% votes (vs 49% and 51% for hereditary peers) for the 2019-2024 parliament. Difficult to see the value of their contribution.

Lisa Townsend leads the national transport portfolio on behalf of all police and crime commissioners, according to her website. How is that role compatible with her prejudice against cyclists (including based on their clothing choice)? Surrey was the most dangerous county for cyclists in 2022.
