for details on why i use the term generative please see my 2006 phd Generative Music & Cellular Automata + associated papers. these were written at the Creativity & Cognition Studios, UTS, Australia; an internationally recognised multi-disciplinary environment for the advancement and understanding of practice in digital media and the arts.

i build/write my own generative hardware & software. this is informed by my practice based research on cellular automata + other algorithms that i find personally interesting for music making [chaos/complexity & other maths]. there is NO TRAINING OR DATA SET required for this approach, whether on existing music or any other type of training data.. period! ok, that’s an exclamation mark :) ..my phd is available for FREE/NYP.
https://noyzelab.bandcamp.com/album/generative-music-cellular-automata-phd-thesis-data-2006

my work is completely different to current genAI & their usage of training data sets. it is an intimate, local, home grown practice requiring little computing resource. my early foundational work was coded mainly in BBC BASIC [free open source + plz lookup Sophie Wilson!]. i still use BBC BASIC today along with Python, MicroPython, Arduino, Parallax Propellor, Raspberry PI & DDLab, among others on my journey.

my undergrad degree dates from 89-93. back then we wrote mainly in Assembler, C, C++, LISP & used some cool math books. we were taught AI and required to hand code neural networks from scratch. we also used Elaine Rich’s classic computer science text book Artificial Intelligence.

Absolutely heartbroken to learn of the passing of the singular, inimitable Eliane Radigue.

I have everything to say and nothing to say so I'll simply pass along this link to an interview I gave on Eliane and her work. She is now, officially, eternal.
