Here’s what I learned along the way:
1. Meet your audience where they are.
2. Before the meeting, understand what they truly value.
3. Bring what they value to the meeting.
4. Ask for feedback.
5. Bring cookies 🍪.

Asked a longtime friend in a different state about her kids school. It’s a STEM school that does PBL but she couldn’t speak to what PBL is or why it’s valuable. She had no indication if it’s being done with fidelity or effectiveness.
There’s a significant amount of parents who say “I want my school to focus on the basics/academics/fundamentals” and what they really mean is that eduspeak has become a foreign language. Initiatives are on as good as their implementation. Fascinating to ask parents to talk about their kid’s school.
