We need like a 1000 more AOC's and absolutely no RFKs! Might as well lose DJT while we're at it.

It would be interesting to see the aggregate cost in USD of all those blue dots on the map as well.

#gischat This IG ad for a Udemy GIS course looks just like my "don't let the GIS app make the map for you" slide from my cartography lecture! :P
In this picture, a pile of national park service badges, all cut off of grey park ranger uniform shirts.
The NPS lost about a 1/4 of its permanent staff to mass firings, buyouts, early retirements, and resignations so far this year. This is the official resistance account: we preserve & protect public lands; we are America’s history keepers & storytellers. Join us on this uphill trail. #protectourparks
The victory of the opposition in Hungary yesterday, like the Polish election in 2023, is a victory for democracy, not just in Europe but around the world.
The Southern Ocean would like to have a word.
Enough already, there is almost no legitimate use for the presidential pardon. We should strip it entirely or at a minimum allow only a set number of pardons per administration, like 3 tops!
Declining press freedom combined with a narrative against "mainstream media" channels more people into even deeper social media propaganda machines. Chart source: buff.ly/TOyMiUg
If you go to Facebook you can comment on the U.S. Forest Service’s recent post. They’re calling out our movement because major businesses are now speaking up and that’s got them rattled. They’re spreading lies to sell you on their demolition of the Forest Service. Don’t buy it.
We’ve updated SaveUSFS.org with all 80+ brands that have spoken out and today, you’re seeing what momentum looks like. Once the first few step up, more follow fast. Your voice made this happen. Thank you! We’ve also added Backcountry and Sitka Gear to our pressure campaign.
#gischat got an email today saying Avenza will be shutting down there PDF Map store on iPhone and Android. Not that I used them very much but any alternatives for putting a DIY geo PDF on your phone?
It works well for maps that will be viewed primarily on screen rather than printed but need to look analog. I've done a little of the rasterizing roads and rivers into AI map projects and it's nice, but a lot of back and forth work between apps!
I've always been fascinated by workflows that push vector layers into a PS sandwich as opposed to taking raster layers and putting them in an AI sandwich (the approach I typically use).
He is not worth the end of our Republic, an imperfect but determined two-hundred-and-fifty-year experiment in Democracy having its life and liberty choked out by a sneering, narcissistic, intellectually fetal, morally bankrupt bottom feeder.

Feel like I need to add since the OP's name is so similar to mine, this is not me, I did not make this, and I am not knowingly related to this person. But we both like maps apprently!
I love that Trump thought a) his mere presence at the Supreme Court would have some effect on the trajectory of the hearings and b) that he'd understand anything they were saying. He's an absolute fucking dipshit who just looks pathetic for having shown up at all. #resist
BREAKING: President Trump has issued an unlawful executive order attempting to severely restrict mail-in voting.
The Constitution is clear: Only the states or Congress can change election laws.
Congrats! I occasionally get a copy sent to me when I make maps for publication. Have yet to buy one though! Wish it was more common to send free copies to your contributors!
Weird, I have such a strong memory of the "export filtered DEM" option in that app. I emailed him through the website contact form, I'll post what I hear back.
#gischat Any Eduard shaded relief users out there? I seem to recall on older versions I could export the filtered DEM (not the SR) to be used in other apps. Now all I can find is the SR export and export grid which just gives you the original grid file, no filtering applied.
I don't see them as that mutually exclusive. Design to me is just a process of making decisions to affect an outcome (a solution, object, experience etc.). Art can definitely be designed and design can (as many maps do) take on the mantle of art. It overlaps, I think the intention is most important.
In both map and photography we often talk about the image telling a "story" to which I always say yeah, but it's not "It was a dark and stormy night..." it's more like "a tree... a path... grainy shadow... intersecting lines" :P
This resonates. Most of my creative work is visual. I share and sometimes sell my work as art, but I don't feel like an artist (more craftsperson). I know some design tools, I like to play with imagery, I have an ok sense of what I like in art/design. But it feels to casual to be called an artist.
I'm not a big travel to see famous peoples graves kind of person, but I will 100% travel to Trumps grave so I can spit on it.
Today I’m excited to finally start a project I’ve been wanting to launch for a long time: Color for #Geoscience. 🎨🌍

I like how this arranged and tagged. I wonder if a tag or score could be added for each palettes perceptual qualities? Some of these (the rainbows) are well known for not being perceptually uniform in contrast/values.
the map was his visual aid in communicating that idea broadly. It's a better example of the power of maps as visual communication devices than as analysis tools. It's a minor point but in my field of GIS and cartography Snow's map often gets credit for spatial analysis it does does not deserve IMO.
