I was at Tulane BEFORE he was there. Fuck I'm old.

Oh, I know. I just find it ironic that just as other schools start thinking about not competing, Tulane decides to do the opposite.
The funny thing about it is, Tulane FINALLY decided to take it seriously, something they haven't done in 60+ years.... Once the administration got it through their thick skulls that the endowment and admission selectivity are both positively impacted by athletics.
Tulane is a legitimate university.... Legitimate enough for the History Department to basically disavow Gingrich, even while he was there.
That's exactly what I'm saying.... We'll never know for sure, but my guess is that Tulane was the real deal until the wheels fell off due to tampering.
Between those (true) rumors and the (false) Sumrall to UNC rumor, the team was unprepared and uninspired for both Memphis and Army. I suspect we will see a much better team vs Florida in the bowl.
I can explain, sadly.... Darian Mensah, Tulane's QB, signed with his agent around 10/22. Right around the Navy win on 11/16, said agent was communicating with the Duke NIL people. By the time Tulane lost to Memphis on 11/28, deal was done and rumors were circulating that Mensah was gone.
Not so bad so far. Mensah is replaceable, and he isn't worth the $1m+ in NIL he's going to get. Plus, notice how no WRs or OL followed him.... Character matters. I'd be more worried if Sumrall left.
He knows that KY and Auburn will both likely be open next year. If he can improve the record in 2025, SEC checkbooks are going to open very wide for the 2026 season.
Take it from us, Mensah is no Sion James. Character matters.
I remember thinking I was going to go to Vandy. Then I visited Nashville and NOLA, and knew immediately where I was going to be for the next 4 or more years. Didn't learn a damn thing in school but learned everything about life.
Bold prediction.... Notre Dame makes it to the championship game and just might win it all.
Remember, we were starting a Freshman QB in his second game ever, along with a brand new coach. If you get a chance, watch the Navy game to see how much better we've gotten over the course of the season..... Held them to a shutout and only 113 yards of offense. Hopefully we do the same to Memphis.
The sarcasm is strong with this one.
At least $15m plus a good TV contract.
You forgot Neptune.
Yeah. Sadly, I have a feeling it's going to be one of many tough evenings this season.
I would point out that Tulane held Navy to a shutout and only 113 yards of total offense vs. 310 yards when Navy played ND.
In other words, I'm not sold on ND. The Army game should be telling.
The line on BYU-Ohio State looks correct, but I'm not 100% sold on the B12 getting that 5th automatic bid.
I mean, what if Army beats Notre Dame? If it happens I would say that the winner of the Tulane-Army game has a legitimate argument for that last spot, regardless of what happens with Boise.

Sigh.
We are simultaneously witnessing the golden era of Tulane Football and the nadir of Tulane Basketball. For once in my lifetime I'd like us to have success in more than one major sport in the same season.
We all know what needs to happen. AD Harris, time to rip the band-aid off.
