Gorgeous start for A Hundred Scenes of Awajima. Takako Shimura's collection of vignettes emphasizes the ripples of relationships across multiple generations at a Takarazuka-like school, jumping back & forth as it pleases. Even without covering everything, the anime could assemble a beautiful puzzle

Ikoku Nikki can excel "just" by observing society. Of course, that's only within its reach because it cares about all sorts of people in the first place, because it can give shape to an incredibly diverse craft through their grounded routines, and because its occasional abstraction hits that hard
