I combed through the new designs in the #SecretsofStrixhaven precons, and pared it down to the 20 ones I was most excited about.

Had a cool idea for an article: a nostalgic look at an old list, with a critical eye. How many cards from a 2019 deck would I even play in 2026? What does that say about power creep?
Drop your guess in the comments before giving it a read and finding out!

Feels like with this year's return to Middle-earth we're hitting a watershed moment for what UB reprints might look like down the line - if we get them at all

Just so happened to write this yesterday
A "flashback" to last week here, as I catch up on pieces that have been published while I've been moving house.
My Commander Class of 2025 is here, with the classic breakdown of decks I played, built, deconstructed, and brought forward to 2026.
Please enjoy!

It was amazing to be a part of the CFP this past year, and I feel like it succeeded in so many ways both internally and for the community. What a great project and group of people!
I'll be sad not to be involved going forward, but wish everyone nothing but the best.
(Extended thoughts below)
It's the end of the year, and we've had time to test out the Brackets Beta. Folks have been vocal in wanting a bracket between 3 & 4. I set out to investigate the divide through the following question:
Should You Always Tutor in B4?

If you're in the same boat as me with wanting to try a shrines deck (or revisit one), here are a smattering of interesting synergy cards that might be worth a look 👀

Is this a hot take? IS IT?
Or is Aristocrats a bit of a trap when you don't have a clear destination in mind?
Don't get caught spinning your wheels in a format about resource accrual.
Some precon only designs have stood the test of time
Others have aged into forgotten gems, thanks to shifts in the overall Commander metagame
Also, I just really wanted to use the art for Malicious Affliction in an article...???

Is this a bit of a hot take? I don't think so.
The bracket system has shaken things up in a way that means different Commanders scare me these days.

After a weekend of MagicCon and Commandfest where a LOT of Commander was played, I'm interested to know: what's the perfect number of Commander decks?
I offer a few answers here, but I'm keen to know from y'all if you resonate with any of this - and where you diverge!
So while I am a fiend for Boros, I can't deny that Grixis seems to get -all- the fun Commanders lately
What's your Grixis deck of choice? Any of these?

Okay so I've had a chance to look through the Through the Omenpaths versions of Spider-Man cards, and I have one thing to say:
The Flavor of Through the Omenpaths is simply too good to be digital only
Some of the art is just... wow.
Back from my trip, and straight into some thoughts about homogenous deckbuilding
Check it out (or don't, I'm not your Mom)
From the cast of runes, to the counsel of age, to his battle hardened champion, and the wisdom of the most ancient and venerable. Logan is never in need of finding councel. #WarhammerCommunity #warhammer40k #spacewolves #vlkafenryka #Warmongers #wh40k #logan #ulrik #njal #arjac #bjorn
Been thinking recently about how good having a "bonus" Secret Commander can be in a deck otherwise built around the Commander.
If you aren't packing a Secret Commander or Backup Commander then it might be worth fitting one in 👀

Ever just sit and wonder why you're sub 20 life and barely getting an engine going?
Commander games can feel fast these days. Here's my thoughts on how we got here, and how to stave off some of that chip damage.

Today's article is about Two Mana Commanders. It features a selection of diverse and fun options that pack a punch, and is an article in which I convince MYSELF a good seven or eight times to build a new Commander 😆

This week I have a pretty cool piece on math in Commander 👀
Sure, we talk about land and removal counts all the time, but what about "doing the thing"? Doing the thing is super important even if you're not in B4/B5.
Here's why, and how to build better - spotlighting one of my decks as an example👇
