Hell, even if it was another person who gave me the numbers I would run a few quick spot-check verification steps before I start working on the data storytelling for the numbers I get to present to a broader audience. This is just baffling levels of negligence.

Using AI to infer a SQL query using for reference other queries against the same database tends to give good results as long as the person using it knows the database and can review the output, can't imagine being comfortable presenting analytics I didn't verify myself.

I can't see this as anything other than negligence. AI can be used well for both helping with Excel and SQL, but if you ask it about business critical analytics directly you are going to get a version of this.
