No student should face violence where they learn. We’re calling for national standards to prevent and respond to GBV in Scotland’s colleges and universities.

It is time for trauma-informed training and safe learning environments.

Scotland’s colleges and unis are at risk of collapse after years of cuts. 🛑

We are demanding an end to education cuts. It is time to treat tertiary education as a public good.

Education is a public good, not a business. Public funding requires responsibility. It is time to end excessive executive pay and start putting students first.

Despite modest improvements in funding, yesterday's Scottish budget fell short of the ambition for education that Scotland's students need to see.

Graphic with a pink to purple gradient background, black text on white reads: 'Students in Scotland are watching this government’s final budget before the election closely. For too long, we have heard warm words about the value of education, while watching our colleges and universities crumble under the weight of underfunding.” "Education is the single best economic investment we can make. It is a social good that drives our economy and our society. To do anything other than fund it properly now is short-sighted vandalism that will cost Scotland dearly in the long run."- Sai Shraddha S. Viswanathan, NUS Scotland President

Sai spoke to the National about yesterday's UK budget and the need to end age-based wage discrimination.

“The Westminster Government need to start delivering for young people in Scotland.

We welcome the increase in minimum wage, apprentice wage, and the national living wage.

This progress is a testament to the tireless campaigning of apprentices and young people across Scotland and the UK.

But while the increase brings minimum wage slightly closer to the national living wage; age-based wage discrimination remains.”

❤️ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Thank you to all the attendees of a wonderful democratic event last week.

🗳 With less than 200 days until the Scottish Parliament Elections, it was brilliant to come together to prioritise and plan campaigns for what students and apprentices need.
