i've seen "it would really stick it to the devs if we left bsky" posts & no it wouldn't. they want this web site to be boring crypto idiots who cool their phones off in pools chatting with AI reply bots. instead they have to put up with us and that's deeply funny

Ohhh ... so thats what coffee creamer is
-I am BEGGING my local hospital system to hire people with customer service experience. Too many times I've dealt with someone who is twice my age, and acts half of it. Like cool, thanks, love being called an idiot while I'm now in year 3 of trying to get my partner's medical mystery sorted out.
But I digress. I have a lot of personal beef with clerks in Healthcare specifically. In the area I live, most would assume that whoever is running the front desk is probably going to be a stereotypical "mean girl," and while that's a broad brush-
But I KNOW that's a problem, but unfortunately until Corp gives more hours for more staff we're all on the same level of screwed. Which is why I never dunk on trainees or give them shit for it. I often parrot the line "I need you to focus on learning to do it right, you can be fast later."
I work retail for one of the worst chains- and I agree. Our onboarding? Watch these videos and read this for 6-8 hours. Then if you're lucky you'll get a single shift on shadowing or guided training on floor/register. Then you're on your own, page me if you need me or have questions.
CRASHING OUT IS GOING ON TOUR! Phil and I are traveling to cities nation wide! And you can get presale tickets RIGHT NOW with the code CRASHING at www.crashingouttour.com
And I 100% agree that everyone should be paid a living wage! These jobs don't pay enough and most of them do not offer Healthcare by trapping you in a Part-time position. You SHOULD be paid more for the vast amounts of emotional and mental labor these positions require to perform well.
Customer service is a learned skill- even if the bigwigs try to say otherwise. I suspect part of the problem is work cultures where coworkers/supervisors aren't holding people accountable to their behavior, nor have the want or time to try and help people acquire those people skills.
I've been in customer facing positions for 14+ years and if I'm doing my job correctly my customers and coworkers won't have a shadow of a clue as to what my personality is like outside of work, and my behavior is not there to make their day worse or more difficult.
Man, in general more people (across generations) need to learn how to be "On" when they're at work. Customer/Client/Guest facing positions are hard and almost always underpaid and overworked but that is not the fault of the people you interact with.
