Was lovely to talk about When Trees Testify: Science, Wisdom, History, and America's Black Botanical Legacy and writing more broadly with @lkroe.bsky.social for @careerauthors.com .
Stunned and grateful for this review of THE EDGE OF SPACE-TIME! 🙏🏽
“The book makes complicated concepts so relatable, readers once wary of the cosmos because of its vast nature, can finally wrap their brains around it in digestible pieces.“
Gorgeous 😍😍😍
Thanks @cbo.bsky.social for this review of THE EDGE OF SPACE-TIME! To be read by a peer like this is an honor!
"Instead, the reader is given a project that sings both the radio hits and the deep cuts of physics, set to an instrumental of different scholarly contexts, disciplines, and inspirations."
Data centers are a physical manifestation of AI infrastructure and they've become a flashpoint precisely because they're tractable. They exist in specific places, consume specific resources, can be seen and pointed to. I spoke with @lorenaoneil.com @rollingstone.com about our urgent AI reckoning.

Making tenure count, for MSNOW I wrote about my employer, The University of Iowa, creating a center for intellectual freedom. It's a reactionary project built on decades of conservative propaganda about higher ed.
A very important point...the present is a very trying moment AND the ways in which this country has not reckoned with the many moments before this one must be recognized.
Thanks! Yes Overstory is a fascinating read, indeed ❤️

Had a TON of fun talking to @npr.org Short Wave about why thinking with physics matters in this moment 🧪⚛️

To paraphrase James Baldwin, the belief in the goodness is the whole problem.
Would love to. Working on a summer date.
A WHOLE CIVILIZATION WILL DIE TONIGHT My son needs lunch, and I have to put his backpack together, but a whole civilization will die tonight, so I'm wondering if they've closed their schools. Like, a snow day, maybe, except instead of snow it's "keep your children home so if you die, you die together" — instead of "well open back up once the plows have cleared" it's "we don't know if we'll be here tomorrow, hold your babies tight." It's just "talk" I'm told, which I've been told before. "It's how the president makes his deals." But I've never heard anyone talk about other human beings this way, and I'm not certain I can look my son in the eyes if we all agree to stomach it one more time. A civilization will die tonight, but as I zip up his backpack and kiss him off to school I think: if this is what we call leadership then I'm not entirely sure ours isn't already dead. @michaelfdubois Mukad A QuBoy @michacifdubois

This beauty "Lessons from Plants" debuted 5 years ago on April 6, 2021.
It was a delight to work with editor Janice Audet then @harvardpress.bsky.social.

Just finished When Trees Testify by @berondam.bsky.social -grateful for this book that ties together Black history and trauma, a sense of Black belonging in nature and science, and Black wisdom, power, and joy. I will be imagining our collective breath being taken up by trees from now on. 🌳💕
