This is aimed squarely at me.

A lot of people making fun of this but I think the meaningful bit here is they got a relatively lightweight(?) android battery to last that long. Seems like battery tech is improving.

Plus improvements in every aspect other than the battery: actuators, computing power, not to mention the physics of the running movement look finely tuned.

So many people's starting point to coding was "I just wanted to customize my MySpace page".

If you make it worth learning, people learn.

I was wondering how to use the Service Worker to help patch over networking challenges of self hosting. This gives me ideas. Bad ideas probably, but ideas nonetheless.

I wish someone would make the SQLite of CouchDB.

This is amazing from a politician, and also completely true. I love walking and riding my neighborhood. You can discover so many little things you'd never know about if you're in a car driving by. Not to mention making contact with neighbors and shop keepers.

Looks like he deleted it. I imagine he's getting way too much attention and it's not helping the family. I understand completely, but the story is terrifying and Target should be called out.

Prediction: AI will make formal verification go mainstream — Martin Kleppmann’s blog

Personally I think writing formal proofs is one of the best applications of AI, and I think we're going to see a lot more of it in the future, as I wrote a few months ago (martin.kleppmann.com/2025/12/08/a...). I've adjusted my own research agenda for the coming years to help make this happen.

Imagine having to ask an astronaut to push the button on the radio before talking 😬

Every decade of my career, the tech industry has come up with some new “disruption” that wrecks the livelihood of musicians, siphons off the money and then sells the narrative that this is better for us actually.

Late reply but I just ran across this video:

youtu.be/rNEeV7vbICk?...

It turns out the D5 is still among the best at low light and high dynamic range photography, even compared to the latest models.

Sounds like they will be upgrading for future missions though.

That is wild. Sqlite is one of the most heavily tested projects out there. Good job Tailscale folks!

What is gen-UI in this context? AI-generated UIs in general or is there a specific project / whatever you're referring to?

Nuts. On Mac I have to do sudo to modify the hosts file. Where are they getting the permission for this? (I don't have cc)

I can’t believe the administration looked at the last few years and said, you know who we can bomb into submission? The guys who trained Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis but are 10x as big

Whoa 🤯

The Moon, in full eclipse, with the #Artemis II Orion spacecraft. Part of the Moon and spacecraft are lit by Earthshine, and both Saturn and Mars are visible to the lower right. Incredible. Details: images.nasa.gov/details/art0...

What we need really is for our HTML (all of it) to be statically analyzable, so that every possible DOM tree can be known.

With that, a linter can tell you so many things about your CSS, including if it's leaking out of your component.

It's far fetched, but I'm having fun working on this.

All the astronauts were white men, yet the people who got them where they needed to be were black women.

The NASA admin‘s comments on launch day contained lots of praise and thanks for partners abroad. It stood in stark contrast to the regular diatribes coming from the White House.
