I don’t say this lightly, but the corruption and legal malfeasance committed by this “court” is astounding. They need to be held to account for enabling the constitutional crises we find ourselves in.
I am so disappointed I’m missing it. I’ve been to so many since the early 2000s, and my graduate assistantship was with the festival. I’ll miss it and the community that built up around it. I’m happy it lasted as long as it did.

Bill Nack’s My Turf has excellent pieces in it. I found myself liking the Sonny Liston and Rocky Marciano ones even though I’m not a big boxing fan.
One of my old journalism professors, Walt Harrington, wrote a lot of profiles and is known for longer form pieces. His collections are good.
No worries! My phrasing could’ve been better.
But, yeah, there a lot more hotel inventory in Vegas. Their new convention center is also massive.
What would they have to give if the San Diego Chicken wanted to table there?
I guess it probably depends on how “convenient” you want it to be. I’ve also run into the problem of the conference I attend being held on football game weekends the last few years. Not ideal.
You say that about Vegas, and yet I’ve had trouble finding affordable accommodations at decent properties while attending conferences in the past.
I actually like Coronado; just annoyed it took that long and the choices were so slim.
We’ve stayed on Coronado 4 of the last 5 years (and once at the Del!). I’ve just never heard of this hotel, but it’s across from the Del. So, we’ve got that going for us.
A perfectly reasonable position.
Hell, the hotel I booked I could’ve just booked directly at essentially the same price.
Finally got in after over an hour, and there was barely anything left. Ended up with a hotel on Coronado I’ve never heard of. This should be interesting.
By the time I got in, there were like 15 hotels left, most outside of downtown or only 1 bed available. I hate this.
I hate this so much.
Nope! Still waiting!!
It’s been 49 minutes, and my bar isn’t even halfway.
I legitimately think hotels are going to start causing some conventions to fail. I was at C2E2 a few weeks ago, and the hotel experience was absolutely miserable for the price.
I’m shocked* that #hotelpocalypse is worse than ever this year.
*I’m not shocked.
WWE is very good at extracting maximum dollars from its most loyal supporters, but how long can that last? 3/3
A few years ago, I started casually watching some of the premium events again — because they were on Peacock, a service I already had a subscription for. Now that they’ve moved to a different service that you have to pay extra for? I’ve stopped watching again. 2/3
I find this article interesting. When I was young, I was a big WWF fan. The reason why? It was on broadcast TV, and I could watch it. As soon as it went exclusively to cable, I stopped watching. My family didn’t have cable at that time.

Boom had very pernicious and unfriendly financial terms for creators. Now that all of the guys that used to work there are setting up at other publishers, they are trying to institute these crappy terms. Incredibly frustrating to see.
Be careful out there creators.

Happy birthday!
An absolute joke of an organization.
