Hobo with a Shotgun was one of the most unredeemable films I've ever seen. Grotesque, boring, it wasn't even fun as a crap movie. Just awful all around.
And to be clear, I can enjoy a Troma film! I've had fun with Asylum films!
This shit was horrendous.
Iron Sky, and it was bad movie that went horrible in the last 3 minutes.
Which person in the polycule gets to wear the rational actor hat? Cause we know it's not all of them.
Young adult happiness is falling. Percent of young people who are pretty or very happy has dropped from 88% to 76% over the last 15 years after having held fairly steady between 1980 and 2010
My hottest “I have no data to back this up” take is that phones aren’t making young people less happy. What’s making them less happy is living in a world where everyone is having their reality defined by recommendation algorithms that can only care about whether something keeps you watching.
However, that overlap doesn't mean law is literally software. If it did, it would mean we wouldn't be so upset at SCOTUS just arbitrarily changing the law. The law as software metaphor would collapse under the necessary SCOTUS as frequent solar flare bit flips corralary.
And 2) there is way more artistry (I'm using this as shorthand for a lot of imprecise concepts) in software than folks who haven't written anything more than a macro appreciate. The way I've framed it is there is more science in law and more art in CS than lay people realize.
On the software/law dialogue, I can get where the guy is coming from. I've got both a BS In CS and a JD. When I got to law I noticed there was more formalism than I expected, so I get the inclination. But this ignores two things: 1) more formalism doesn't mean law is some detemrinsitic state machine
I just learned that the other day and have the article about it saved to read sometime soon. It's wild, but entirely understandable given the ability of the game to both preserve and modify states.
As it turns out, Westlaw Head notes combined with key citations are Turing complete and are thus a computer.
All I could think about while Integrity was landing was, It would take SpaceX 15 more exploded unmanned starships to even get to this point, and it took Boeing exactly no exploded Artemis missions.
I howled! Absolutely howled at that call out. How dare you ask that. I love that they just ignored the question for a few minutes.
How dare you ask an astronaut if they are pushing the PTT button. I'm howling over here.
The capsule splashing down onto the water with the three red and white parachutes above it
Splashdown! Vehicle is stable and upright. “A perfect bulls-eye splash for Integrity and its four astronauts!” #Artemis
Might have been some breath holding that last 45 seconds. Might have been some big sighs and bigger smiles.
Might have been a fist pump on this end.
God damn that was cool.
HOOTING HOLLERING MEME
WHEN THEY REESTABLISHED COMMS
I realize it's not 2002 but my mental image shifted to Cyberbro having frosted tips and I don't need to be disabused of this imaginary characterization.
How reversed was his Yankees cap? I figure it was gripping for dear life.
The á is interesting here.
Suggests to me that this has been copied and pasted.
I will only be satisfied if the end of the movie is two old men on a super structure just beating the hell out of each other for 20 minutes and then at the end it's Kiefer Sutherland for some reason.
That just seems so weird to me. I think the fairest criticism is that it's basically a hallway simulator a la 13, but that's pretty weak given how engaging the world is to explore. I've thought it was commonly ranked at #2 or #3 best game in the series.
Hard agree is excellent.
Like Airforcedproud95 would do a hell of a job. But also I think was already an ATC in another life.

TBF to this idea, the Microsoft Flight Sim ATC and DCS AWACS folks are a different breed, but usually those folks have already worked in an ATC setting and are just bringing their experience to their hobby.
I'm struggling to imagine the people who think X is bad?! Like, if you think 10 is bad, I have to imagine you either hate all FF games, or you exclusively like 2, 5, and 16.
Now that's a bad take for everyone outside of Scandinavia.
It's just so boring musically. There's a little of something fun in it, but not much. And the plot is just so permanently locked into a particular moment of time, you can almost feel the polyester popping off the tenor lines.
Related to my other take, Company is Sondheim's worst musical and it's not really close.
No, the Ladies Who Lunch does not save it.
Jesus Christ Superstar is ALW's best musical and it's really not even close.
