Damnit David, I'd forgotten about the existence of Scoble, you heartless bastard.

Tell me you're looking for a punch in the face without telling me you're looking for a punch in the face.
Technically "America alone" is "America first".
Hype cycles are serious only in their consequences.
Ahh, not being beaten up with a 2x4... that's how you know you're dead.
Love this tune! I'm a huge fan of the version you did with Luciana Souza ♥️.
Celia & Fela getting their due. Fucking LEGENDS.
I'm not letting the folks that voted for him off the hook either.
I am grateful to the New York Times and reporter @teddyrosenbluth.bsky.social for sharing the sad story of my father’s reliance on AI for medical guidance, and how it caused him so much pain, and likely hastened his death.

David Sánchez has a new album imminent. I had a chance to hear this music live when he visited the Bay Area last September, a short while before they went into the studio to record it. It's gorgeous, and I simply can't wait to get my hands on the finished version.
Oh $DEITY, the more you stare at it, the worse it gets.
Absolutely LOVE this album. Supernova 2 was always my favorite track, since the rhythmic phrasing on the head always tickled my brain.
Also, his take on the classic "El Manicero" is 😘👌.

I hereby decree that you get to name the moon after her, even if it's just us that knows. ♥️
(it was fun to catch your Harriet Tubman++'s set at Big Ears!)
"New LA Sound" felt like a more apt description. "Alternative Jazz" has always felt like a restatement of the underlying ethos. Like "Alternative Punk" would be.
For the last ten years, I have repeatedly written several letters to my Republican relatives that I have never sent. This captures so much of what I want to say to them.
This. Gadson's pocket sits up there with folks like Stubblefield.
I think one of the main reasons I liked Jose James' "Lean On Me" album of Withers covers was because Nate Smith was in the drum chair, and Smith definitely inherits the mantle on groove & pocket.
Yeah, but my entire discovery mechanism has been to pull threads of folks on albums I like and see which *other* albums they're on. And I have a near-complete Ed Simon discography in which Colley is a frequent appearance. And Adam was in the SFJAZZ Collective. So I'm gobsmacked that I missed this.
"The incentive structure doesn't just fail to distinguish between Alice and Bob. It has no reason to try."
Damn. Scary because it's true.
"The real threat is a slow, comfortable drift toward not understanding what you're doing. Not a dramatic collapse. Not Skynet. Just a generation of researchers who can produce results but can't produce understanding."
A man at his desk in his office. Computer monitors and a couple of RAID arrays visible behind him.
