I joined the year before the base game launched, but the Spiritborn class is special to me since its the first feature I was responsible for providing all the UI related art for 😁 Please tell Murray for me that he did a great job transferring the icons!

So our team is made up of designers (who work more in the game engine making screens actually work) and artists like me (who provide the artwork for menus, icons, panels etc.) My team is really great and while the office is based in California we're spread all over the world! 😁

Having taken a long break from being on social media, I'm kinda mad at how ridiculously unimportant I'm finding it now.
I logged on and the art feed is people AGAIN arguing about whether using reference is cheating.

Another reason to add to the long list of why social media has turned into a terrible place for artists, especially beginners. It's become a mass of everyone just trying to sell themselves, which is fine in itself but makes for crap learning.

*this is my take on the book only, I'm extremely relieved that the worst problems have finally found their way to the most(ly) appropriate place- outed and in court!

With no exaggeration, companies as vast as ABK contain within them a spectrum of work cultures and human experiences that is equal to that of a country. I'm not against the book at all, but of course there's good and bad and you might as well say water is wet.

For what it's worth- my previous experiences of the industry and people in general tbh made me quite cynical. Only once I joined my team at Blizzard did I get a look at what proper professionalism amongst devs looks like, and my standards for my workplace have been upped forever. 😊

Very much looking forward to seeing all of these things again! :D
