Roxana has been with the Zoo for over 10 years, providing dedicated service as a jaguar keeper, and one of our Lead Zookeepers.

Meet Tripod and Quad! The Belize Zoo is now home to a duo of gray foxes, the only species of fox native to Belize.
Tripod, as his name suggests, is a three-legged fox.
Quad, his “roommate,” is a surrendered pet.

The tapirs at the Belize Zoo are already embracing the holidays in their own wild way.
The Belize Zoo will be closed on Christmas Day, but we will be open every other day this month. Come visit and experience Belizean wildlife in their native habitat before the year wraps up.
Hero has been at the zoo for 10 years and was lovingly raised by our Animal Management Department. He came to us as a tiny cub after being confiscated from a young man in the Toledo District.
Although Hero isn’t seen by the public, he plays a vital role behind the scenes.

Since 2003, The Belize Zoo’s jaguar rehabilitation program has rescued and cared for over 25 jaguars, providing a sanctuary for “problem jaguars” and supporting education and research.

Meet Fuzzy the kinkajou.
If you visit the Belize Zoo during the day, you might not spot him. Kinkajous are nocturnal and spend most of the daylight hours resting.
On the Belize Zoo at Night experience, Fuzzy comes alive.
“Won’t he fly away?” is one of the most common questions we hear from guests when they see Ranger the scarlet macaw perched outside his habitat.
Ranger was rescued after being found on the ground with a congenital wing deformity that prevents him from flying.
