What I loved most about backpacking in Montana was having epic mountain trails all to myself. The thing I loved the least was carrying bear spray and worrying about grizzly bears.

Delicate arch at Arches National Park
You can't climb on sandstone for 24-48 hours or more after rainfall. 🌦 For that reason, most of my trips to Arches and Canyonlands have been during storms. It's a great way to avoid the crowds and have the place to yourself! Usually, there's a line of people for this shot.

When I first started camping, I slept on an egg crate sleeping pad. I thought getting a blow-up sleeping pad was a huge upgrade. Driving to beautiful places like this with a full mattress and a rooftop tent feels like cheating, and I love it!
