#nowdrinking Ross-on-Wye Cider’s “Oak Cask” which is a blend of Tremlets Bitter, Kingston Black and Somerset Redstreak to name but three! It’s 6.5%, dry with savory, complex, and smokey flavours. Anyone else tried it?

PULPT seem to be going down the commercial route… nowt wrong with that if it’s still good…

Very, thin, very fizzy, not much taste…

Imagine sherbet. That’s about it.

Shame.

👅 it opens with some deep, orchard‑floor flavours - a kind of autumnal woodiness that feels rustic, yet polished. A salted caramel note softens it, while vanilla mid‑palate has gentle warmth. Tannins are med to med‑high, with soft, rounded grip and some light green apple skin tones to close.

This one always goes down well in bag in box form at my local boozers, but I don’t often get the chance to have it in a bottle at home, so here goes…

👀 Crystal clear, copper in colour and completely still
👃 Rich, fruity apple sauce with some vanilla

I’m a big fan of DN as they produce some excellent ciders from their farm in West Dorset. They include this which is made from one single variety of cider apple named after William Dabinett. He is thought to be the first to find it growing in a hedge in Somerset some-time in the early 1900s

#nowdrinking #SandfordOrchards Slack Ma Girdle at Rutland arms. Still a great mix of people but ciders are diminishing 😞 thank god for The Old Shoe! However, I am now declaring Hull as Yorkshire’s cider capital!

I’ve opted for the #Ascension Pilot and the #JustPressed Astro #Ciders to accompany the proceedings whilst I reminisce of the colossal cider board they once had here 😢

PS I’ve read “Beer Matters” by the local #CAMRA in here and much like other regions, it is greatly lacking in #cider news.

There appears to be some kinda folk thing going on tonight with musicians playing all kinda instruments in a cacophony of sound… sometimes in tune.

Sadly less ciders under the new ownership, but this is the busiest I’ve ever seen #TheHarlequin, #Sheffield so they must be doing something right.

There’s sherbet and a zestiness going on, but it’s rounded and smooth and some lovely sweetness before astringency kicks in. This one is a good introduction to real cider for newbies because it’s so very pleasant. Get of yer horse and drink yer cider!

Up next… #WildWestCider “The Entertainer” which is just 4.5%, but is made with tasty tannic cider varieties like Harry Master's Jersey, Dove, Dabinett and Sweet Coppin. Not sure about the whole cowboy theme, but looking beyond the branding, it’s a good drop is this.

…It ain’t for me this one, but that’s the beauty of cider, there’s so many different blends/varieties/types/producers that there’s bound to be something for everyone out there and this one could be one for you?

…Any complex flavours of any apple taste is buried under a mouthfeel you’d get from some kinda sugar enriched, apple flavoured chew bar… (Candy if you’re American)…

..and the blurb says “Crisp, clean, smooth dry and crafted to be incredibly sessionable, our Southern Apple cider makes for good times with friends all year round” but for me it’s just incredibly sweet…
