sorry to hear this, Kate. You make a huge contribution and I hope that you don't have to go through the at-risk experience again.

Reconstruction of a Train Wreck: How Priming Research Went off the Rails - Replicability-Index This blog post focusses on Chapter 4 about Implicit Priming in Kahneman's book "Thinking" Fast and Slow." A review of the book and other chapters can be found here: https://replicationindex.com/2020/1...

It came out in 2017 that Kahnemann's evidence wasn't necessarily fully replicable (doesn't mean his ideas are bunk, just need to factor in the limits). Here's his response: replicationindex.com/2017/02/02/r...

Asked Google for a definition of AI slop. This is what I got. Love the irony of it! Asking other educators and developers... what are your thoughts on this? #AberPGCTHE #EduSky #AcademicSky

Waiting for student responses | Instructional Moves

Someone brought this 5-minute clip from Harvard GS of Education on facilitating class discussion to my attention, and I thought it would be of value for others. Thinking time - fits nicely with think-pair-share as well. instructionalmoves.gse.harvard.edu/waiting-stud... #AberPGCTHE

A3 #LTHEchat don't transcribe everything the speaker says, but process the info and link to prior knowledge. Include exact phrases/terms as appropriate. Online versus handwritten notes making for me are quite different. Online I take screen shots of Powerpoint slides alternating with my comments.

A4 #LTHEchat for me, the biggest aesthetic is colour as in colour coding. That enables me to spot the structure of ideas and connections between them quite easily. Other than that, I don't care about aesthetics for note making.

I've been testing the accuracy of LLMs in transcribing printed and handwritten historical texts stored as images. I put together a corpus of 400 pages from the Library of Congress.

Current leader is GPT4.1-mini, which at 11 cents per 1K pages, is also the cheapest option. github.com/nealcaren/In...

yes, any particular teaching context would require a customised balance of types of learning in any case. It's not the same for all modules.

Thanks for sharing this thoughtful article. Personally, I like ABC learning design, but I see your points about the limitations of the generic nature of Gen AI output in this context. I especially agree with you on the importance of having a subject matter expert do the curriculum planning.

Review | We tested which AI gave the best answers without making stuff up. One beat ChatGPT. Librarians helped us quiz AI bots with tough trivia, recent events questions and more. Some answers were impressive — others were worse than an old-fashioned Google search.

Geoffrey Fowler ran an in-depth study on this, with librarians to evaluate the AI-generated responses. See his report here (be sure to read his take-aways at the end): www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2... @geoffreyfowler.bsky.social
