Hey friends, I've just started an account on Upscrolled. I'm keen to give it a proper go as it seems to have been born of a similar ethos to Bluesky. I'd love you to join me over there if you're game - let's create a social media platform that we can feel genuinely good about. I'm @dazlikesclouds

Some Thoughts on Terror and Safety This readiness to name, legislate, and moralise “terror” sits in grotesque contradiction with what is simultaneously permitted, defended, and materially rewarded elsewhere.

I've written about the language of counter-terrorism – not as a principled stance against violence, but as a selective tool that sanitises, and ultimately enables far greater crimes when they align with power and profit.

What an unbearably cruel, ugly & gravely disappointing human world this is.

Let's go down fighting.

What hope do any of us have when 60,000 humans can be murdered in plain sight, & our collective will to uphold International Humanitarian Law — designed to protect civilians, the sick & wounded, and prisoners of war — is deemed secondary in importance to the architecture of empire?

I'm especially interested in early moments when this connection began to enter scientific or public discourse. Any pivotal studies, reports, or policy shifts that stand out to you?

Easter prayers for the resurrection of a just & inclusive reality for all beings. One in which we can all take pride & truly thrive. These wishes are uttered alongside the drumming of this extraordinary woodpecker – the 1st I've ever witnessed IRL – such a resonant voice from such a tiny body

Quakers condemn police raid on Westminster Meeting House Police broke into a Quaker Meeting House last night (27 March) and arrested six young people holding a meeting over concerns for the climate and Gaza.

Paul Parker, Quakers in Britain, said: “No-one has been arrested in a Quaker meeting house in living memory.

“This aggressive violation of our place of worship & the forceful removal of young people holding a protest group meeting clearly shows what happens when a society criminalises protest."

For as long as I can remember there have been Tawny Frogmouths in the trees in this backyard. Even though they are nocturnal carnivores, they have weak feet & no talons, & therefore are not classified as owls. Where there's one, there's almost always two.🦉🦉
