Mount Rainier rises above the far shoreline beyond calm water, with soft pink evening alpenglow lighting the snow-covered upper slopes. Layers of lavender and gray clouds stretch across the sky, while dark trees and scattered waterfront homes form a deep blue band below the mountain. The smooth water in the foreground reflects the cool tones of the scene with a faint hint of pink. The photo feels calm, quiet, and gently luminous.

While I was at the Lake Washington this week, Mount Rainier caught my eye in this beautiful evening light. The pastel sky and quiet reflection gave the whole scene a peaceful feel.

My foot stools also make excellent pet steps … as this mature feline will attest. craftysharp.etsy.com

Spent Saturday with President Obama and New York's Cutest — turns out my first name is Mayor and I need to be doing more squats.

Here’s to building a City where families can thrive and every classroom is full of this much joy.

Not to be seen on the BBC TV News, doesn’t suit their agenda .

Also not to be seen in the Telegraph, Express, Mail, Sun, etc.

And nowadays not in the Guardian either.

Dear NBA,

I KNOW it is all about the money and you don’t care about our convenience, but this having to use 3 different streaming services to watch playoff games each night is, (and I say this with all the love I can for the game,) complete horseshit.

Anyone who does that fake throwing a ball for their dog thing... well done, you outsmarted a dog. A dog that loves you and really, really wanted you to throw a ball for them.

You should be on some kind of register.

This is your reminder that it's been ten months since the assassination of Melissa Hortman, her husband and her dog, and there hasn't been even a hint of justice for her family, friends or colleagues.

I once heard a friend say that he didn't believe a woman should be President because we're too emotional. Name ONE woman who has ever gone on a shooting rampage out of anger.

Hoo boy, that was a tough listen. Two women in a department store, browsing racks right next to me, discussing 'immigrants'. I had to walk away when one said '...and you know what? We'll never get them all out of here either'.

There's just no helping some people. 🙄 #Its2026

I don’t necessarily think that it’s useful for serious political figures to endeavor to fully dissolve — as opposed to regulate and constrain — corporate entities, but I’d make an exception for Palantir. It cannot coexist with liberal democracy and it openly says so

Mayor Mamdani and a group of children hold hands while running through red tape in a hallway.

For too long, bureaucracy kept 7 child care centers across our city empty — spaces that should have been alive with laughter instead collected dust.

We've run through that red tape. This fall, all 7 will open their doors, bringing an additional 240 free 3-K seats & real relief to working families.

So jealous of you Illinois folks today. Outlawing book bans is a hell of a step forward.

There really is no such thing as race. We all came from Africa. We are all of the same stardust. We are all going to live and die on the same planet, a Pale Blue Dot in the vastness of space. We have to work together.

Ok hear me out....a little bit of a conspiracy but I think the government is using weaponized incontinence to keep everyone distracted from the real things they're trying to get away with, if the media has something new to focus on every few months it's easy to just quietly get rid...

Today’s unwanted take:

When walking or biking, if a driver properly yields right-of-way, I give the little thank-you wave.

No, it’s not required, you do you. Yes, everyone should do the bare minimum. But I believe in positive reinforcement and moments of social connection.

Rob Schneider did a comedy standup at CPAC and one of his jokes was: "Somalia is not sending their best; they're not sending their doctors or engineers, if they have any... hehehe".

And he still believes Hollywood "blacklisted" him. Maybe they just don't like shitty racist jokes, Robbie.

You won't find him at Coachella or the Met Ball with AOC or Bernie Sanders. He's too busy doing the job tax payers pay him to do - clean up Congress!

An after work detour to see this lovely Hoopoe at Gronant, Flintshire (UK) yesterday brought a taste of the Mediterranean to the North Wales coast hot on the heels of my first Spring Wryneck found early on Sunday morning at Burton.

Winter storm warning for Sierra as another multi-foot dump expected The National Weather Service warns of “significant reductions in visibility at times” and “major travel delays” from heavy snow, gusty winds and potential lightning.

A looming storm is forecast to drop more than 2 feet of snow in parts of the Sierra, prompting the weather service to issue winter storm warnings. It’s the second round of winter storm warnings this month in the Sierra, a rarity for April.

Snow drought won't be wiped out, but this will help some.
