I'm a reader married to a gamer. We spend 2+ hours a night in the study, I read whilst he games. 10/10 recommend readers go for the gamers.

Now that every person in the United States is apparently female, if they repeal same sex marriage, it follows that no one will be able to get married..
An image that shows the front cover of ‘Your Cheeky Guide to the Roman Empire’ on the left and an illustration of an ancient scroll on the right. The text in the centre reads ‘Our book plus your review equals a match made in heaven!’
Have you read our latest book? Your thoughts could help others discover this gem. We’d love to read your review over on Good Reads or even 👀 Amazon. If you haven’t picked up your copy yet, we recommend these tales the Romans wish you didn’t know about them. Just a bit cheeky 😉

Someone tell me if it's not Crassus. I can't confirm from google and it's been a while since I've listened to The History of Rome Podcast
ME TOOO!
The American tiktok ban whiplash is giving Crassus.
I think it's Crassus- the rich guy who'd start fires and then swoop in and 'save' people by buying their homes whilst they burned.
Yes pls!
Yessss we have matching staffies! They are the absolute best reading buddies.

PSA for Ilona Andrews fans: there is a snippet of Iron Covenant 2 (sequel to Blood & Magic) on their blog. Run don't walk!
Warning- it may make the wait more excruciating.

Ilona Andrews' blog post today makes me hopeful there will be a release date for Iron & Magic 2 soon. Any other members of the BDH out there anxiously awaiting more details?

Happy Solstice- be it summer or winter wherever you are.
Just a girl, sitting on the floor of a book store, trying to convince myself I don't need a 4th copy of Dracula. 💙📚
Oof I would struggle! I'm so reliant on the map. If I'm reading urban fantasy I spend half the book on google maps.
.....
how have I never thought of this before...
I have at least 3 copies! Love it so much.
Glad I'm not the only one who has to reference the map all the time! Unfortunately I use a kindle which doesn't have that function (as far as I am aware)
The only downside to reading on a kindle is not being able to flick to the map at the front.
Does anyone have a work around for this?

How soon is too soon to reread a series?

Fair. I really enjoy SJM as an easy read for vibes, but I'm hoping she intentionally included the patrichal elements and that they get torn down.
In my (admittedly chaotic) brain, the ACOTAR world could almost be the alternative universe if Dorethea wasn't overthrown and there were no queens left. Perhaps SJM took inspiration from Black Jewels but infected it with the patriarchy (whether intentionally or otherwise)
SJM was clearly inspired by it- Cassian is almost a copy paste of Lucivar - but the jarring part was the vibes throughout the series. Where Black Jewells starts quite dark and moves towards a more cosy fantasy vibe, the typical reading order of SJM (ACOTAR>TOG>CC) is almost the reverse.
Reading The Black Jewels series by Anne Bishop after ACOTAR/ the SJM Universe is a wild ride.
You should definitely do it - just be prepared.
