Marking the anniversary of its opening, today I'm launching a new website devoted to the story of the Malta Railway. www.maltarailway.net
Please spread the word to anyone who might be interested in this odd little colonial narrow gauge railway.
Different torn papers are folded around a sideways-oriented magazine cutting with the ABBA logo printed in silver on a sky-blue background and an orange coloured semi-opaque plastic film in the shape of an extended tongue. The collage appears to be bound together by three stitches of sky-blue cord along the top edge and the cord continues up to form a long isosceles triangle from which the assemblage is hung, suspended on a picture nail.
Another collage to be hung on the wall

I like to think this piece is a symbol of togetherness, people coming together. A linking of thoughts & life, personal opinion & my background all tied up in this piece

Large, abstract watercolour artwork, comprising a grid of watery brush marks, grey tinged with red, getting gradually paler towards the top of the work.
As an artist I have been posting things like this. I think this is "Fields of Oblivion 2". I think it's the one that was exhibited at the RWA open some years gone by. I like it and the other work in the series, but I didn't progress it further as someone else started doing similar work. Oh joy!

A digital collage. A colour photograph of winter trees on on a foggy grey day in low light. A circular photo of bare tree branches reflected in a puddle is overlaid onto the photo as if balancing on the horizontal branch across the photo.

"The Good Unknown and other ghost stories is another triumph from Volk, digging deep into the human condition via an extraordinary range of voices, perspectives, and periods. Often melancholic, frequently eerie or chilling, and above all, very, very human"
