Indie games forever

Added a stun mechanic to my game. No animation yet.

Jist of it is enemies have poise health. Bringing that to zero stuns them. Stun duration is proportional to their poise hp (harder to stun enemies stay stunned longer)

You gotta appreciate how much time and effort Blizzard puts into sucking ass it's like an art form at this point. They're showing the world how not to make games and documenting the process for the world to learn from

Overwatch: "We need a 10 point chart outlining the complex diversity of your characters to show players we care about minorities"

Deadlock: "idk add a non binary character named Pocket, the kids will love that"

Country is fucked when manager calling you back to work from vacation because someone called out sick is treated as more important than calling our politicians back to work from vacation because their leader is committing genocide using funds that were most certainly not appropriated by Congress

It really do be like the Hunger Games out here. The inner city is circle jerking about our leadership meanwhile us outer district folks are being forced to serve the elite no matter which party is in power.

It's ok y'all!
The BSKY engineers merely dropped the servers in the swimming pool to cool it off.

The AAA industry is the only one pumping out high fidelity ultra realistic day 1 patch overly voice-acted mega-tutorialized live-service we-closed-the-studio-after-launch slop specifically aimed at propping up the GPU market.

So, good. Kill that industry. I want more indie games and I'm not kidding

But the reason why, say, Linux has even been able to get a lot of UX improvements in many areas ie gaming via proton or easy to use variations like Plasma or Mint was .. a result of funding. (Thanks Valve)

That's what I was getting at. Tech like Linux, Matrix or Mastodon (and to an extend, early BSKY) didn't put a lot into UX because its built by tech nerds who are better at coding than they are at user experience.

Of course that's not to say these things *can't* be easy. Linux has come a long way

Not to tell people what to and not to use, but, if you want a safer or better alternative to whatever slop you're sick of using, you might have to do a little more effort than find the "EZ INSTALL AND LOGIN" button.
Often a little hurdle of reading docs or configuring software can be well worth it.

You often have to choose:
Surrender agency, data safety, privacy for an easy to use tech service.
Or, surrender ease of use and time to learn to use something that isn't owned by Skynet

Folks building free and safe tech that gives you agency don't have the time or funding to also make it easy.

An uncomfortable truth is the more user-friendly a tech service is, the more likely it's to attract more users for profit and data. It's a huge part of a company's investment.

The more liberated some tech is, the more difficult it is to use. Because it's built by nerds for free, not by Evil .co

When I see a young and budding graphic artist still stretching their images or making a 400px image blown up to 1200px or trying to save a 10mb image to a deliverable disk or staring at a monumental task of needing to convert 1000 pngs into jpegs w/o knowing scripting - they need the grunt work

The citizens of Hawaii are standing up to fascism and giving an ice agent the good ole beat down that he deserves

We need to do this everywhere, they can’t stop all of us

Nothing will stop these monsters until we learn to fight back

Organize and attack ICE agents wherever you can

Who am I to argue with our robot overlords? They have been trained on all data that has ever existed and is therefore infinitely more intelligent than I am

If it decides it needs to delete all my work to clear space for Palantir tracking software, I am but an ant arguing with a god

Hello everyone.

Today. I'm going back to Windows 11.
Linux has been too slow, too clunky, and too confusing.
Windows 11 has it all. It holds my hand with installation, it cleans up my files for me, and it stays up to date on updates.

It even knows to keep me safe by verifying my age.

Is there a kernel of truth when techbros say "you can code a lightweight LLM model that has zero stolen data and train it yourself?" I mean, yea obviously, it's just math and code.

Do I trust them NOT to train it on materials they don't own and displace jobs? FUCK NO. FUCK OFF FUCK YOUR TECH
