Propaganda as potent as the ability to block international trade routes and fight the war following from that with all it’s humanitarian consequences… 🤦🏻‍♂️
Carelessness at best, misinformation moral panic at worst, impious in any case.

Gender studies courses are shutting down across the US. The Epstein files reveal why | Joan Wallach Scott Texas A&M University is the latest school to end women’s and gender studies programs and teaching race. We know why

Eliminating gender studies courses helps to ensure that universities and other institutions will continue to protect men who benefit from the abuse of women and girls, either directly or through their connections to those who exploit girls and women for profit.

Do News Media Want to Disentangle from Platforms? Publishers have both principled and practical reasons to want to disentangle themselves from platforms and the companies behind them, but in most cases do not prioritize this, because there are oth...

#Framing theory could never have wished for a better allay than ChatGPT. Every single student project now somehow, somewhere has framing in it.
#commsky is that a global phenomenon? Does #chatgpt just converge to framing with comm/media related problem prompts?

Exactly. This is not a communication problem.

Review Friday rant: Why is everyone selling the use of GPT-x as a methodological innovation? It’s not like you programmed chatGPT. Using LLMs to classify text data is as „innovative“ as hiring someone to do. No one would think that hiring coders is a methodological contribution lol

Students yes, probably. But just by comparing ICA with the biggest international associations for psychology and political science, we are massively outnumbered. Plus as we’re in an integrative social science, many of us publish in psych and political science journals as well.

Is your point that comm science journals should publish more articles? Because I cannot keep up with the amount of publications relevant to my interest now 😅
Also, aren’t both pol science and psychology many times larger as fields than comm science?

Dreamt that I taught an elementary school class tonight and now I don’t know what to do with that in my teaching philosophy 🤷🏻‍♂️

At some point, all classes gathered in a big auditorium for lunch and each class sang in a choir.

The calculator moral panic finally won. Can’t have calculators anymore.

Guess heavily AI „assisted“ reviewer comments are our brave new age of peer review now lol… we’ll only get overly generic recommendations in lists of three applicable to a wide range of input texts and odd typesetter-level punctuation from now on.
Only consolation: The former we also got without AI.

You know what’s really relaxing after #ica25? Being able to sit in a café/restaurant as long as you wish, not being rushed out the second you put your fork down 🙌

(I know that’s because US staff can’t make a living without max. fluctuation - makes it all the more annoying/wrong on multiple levels)
