In these situations it's about repairing trust and respect and not falling into the negativity trap of the "Ofsted window".
There will be lots of hard work to do but make time for fun, for connection and belonging. Listen with a view to learn and change, not just to hear, and to everyone.

Great idea!
I'm worried though that the gov are rushing towards this without thinking it through properly.
There def needs something doing, I agree that phones shouldn't be out during the day. But schools don't have the money to invest in pouches and it's not as simple as saying leave them at home.
Negativity feeds negativity.
Positivity feeds positivity.
Shift the balance!
A really interesting perspective! There is no denying that teaching is highly stressful, but there is also a massive push towards the negativities of our profession which feeds a narrative that perhaps shouldn't be there?
It was a big day for science!

This is a brilliant piece of advice!
Back to School Sunday Scaries?
Remember this ๐
This is the cause of so much confrontation isn't it. Parents coming with a hidden past of their own experiences at school and that coming out in anxiety and aggression.
Meeting them where they are and mixing empathy with assertive boundaries can really help.
Are you going somewhere exciting?
I'm looking forward to visiting this.
Don't dismiss this type of training as unnecessary because you personally know all these acronyms.
Non teaching staff, particularly those joining with no previous school experience can find this really valuable. We talk in jargon so much it can make people feel like they don't belong.
I like some from that era for the same reason. I really enjoy listening to the Sounds of the 70s program on Radio 2 on a Sunday whilst I'm cooking dinner.
Do you have a favourite artist from those decades?
What are your hobbies? Something you do simply because it brings you joy.
Mine - synchronised swimming, gardening, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, cold water swimming, baking, reading, watching TV, scrapbooking, visiting new countries.
Swim #22 of the year yesterday was a bit grey so the big hat was back out.
But it was beautifully calm so I managed a proper swim.
How do you prefer people show their appreciation to you at work? This comes up a lot in my staff surveys, that it's a bit like marmite. What some people love, others hate. Public shout outs are too public, mentions in a newsletter too insincere. So let me know what works and doesn't for you!

It's also hard to teach it because you can't make it very real life any more.
You can buy anything in the real shops for pence!
Oh yes!! I had to do that too!
That is hilarious!
Definitely not time to plant out yet!
Looks lovely! I don't think I've been to Dorset so must rectify that!
Happy birthday!
