Fine build-up & well-developed characters—have substance in terms of traits. Has slow-paced intro of characters' whereabouts. But smooth/suspenseful storyline on the latter. Zafon plotted cinematic pacing. This can be a great stop-motion film. A sad story; primary element of gothic-themed narrative.
