Was in Haneda airport in line to get on my flight home when we felt the earthquake today - rolling and swaying. Last week was at a pre-NCM meeting in the north (Sendai), including excursion to a harbor now under tsunami warning. NCM itself, happening now, is South in Kobe - they all should be safe.

Happy bday!!!
Duke colleagues: is there a new development in your field of brain studies that captivates you, but you feel alone in your excitement? Do you want to grow a community at Duke to explore it?
DIBS wants to help you! Announcing the new, 3-yr DIBS Dream Team awards:

Extremely relevant but poppyseed bagels are the best bagels. She should feel proud.
If you are an early career NHP researcher (postdoc or asstiant professor) and interested in attending #ACNP2027 please apply.
I’ve also rolled off the E&T Committee that reviews these awards and am now an “ambassador” so if anyone wants some advice about applying for travel awards, reach out.
😄 now I want to take a class from you. My students cringe at any attempts I make at using current slang. Maybe I shouldn't smirk when I do that though.
A conniption of faculty

I am deeply grateful to the Bloomberg Endowment for supporting both our research and broader vision! We hope that our work will contribute to next generation of psychiatry treatments, bci, and ai development.
Congratulations, Ilya!!

Please do not boycott reviewing for the NIH. Help the SROs and other staff who are doing their part to get grants funded. And help the applicants - your peers and most importantly, young investigators - who deserve experienced reviewers.
I’m hiring a research tech to join my lab! Anyone interested can reach out to me for more information. This is a good opportunity for someone looking to expand their research skills prior to graduate school.

Human in vivo neuroscience methods are becoming increasingly sophisticated and important, but this article is about NAMs - which exclude in vivo methods in any species, according to every link in the article and solicited or awarded grant listed at those links. Unless I missed something.
Science peeps! Excited to share first of two preprints just uploaded. This one concerns a person who hears sounds when she moves her eyes! We could actually record these sounds and verify they were connected to eye movements 1/

If you're interested in emerging ideas in neural interfaces, I humbly suggest my lab's latest: www.nature.com/articles/s42...
Neural interfaces create dynamic interactions between the brain & devices. This means mean we need new engineering approaches beyond typical ML to "decode" a static brain
Did you bring an instrument?!
Our NIAAA funded Post-DoctT32 has received its NoA (non competing renewal). Are you looking for a post-doc and interested in joining our amazing center? If so, reach out! Here is a convenient form that you can use to upload CV and a cover letter!

“Sequential experience reshapes population representations in visual cortex” doi.org/10.64898/202...
Visual experience unfolds in time. We asked how temporal structure reshapes population activity in visual cortex.

I’m excited to share my newest work with @benhayden.bsky.social, and the work I’m most proud of to date, on characterizing semantic coding in single-neuron hippocampal activity in patients with autism during natural language comprehension!

Meet Sarah Heilbronner, a neuroanatomist building wiring diagrams to understand the structure of pathways in the brain. 🧠#AskaNeuroscientist @srheilbronner.bsky.social
Been too long since I lived in the Midwest but as a child I loved anywhere along the St. Croix River. Enjoy the sabbatical!!!
New lab paper! 🧠
Human hippocampal & MTL theta activity is linked to eye movements, but only during memory-guided navigation. Theta is also strongest during longer, more exploratory eye movements.
