I was 17 when it was first played on the radio. I recorded the music video on VHS as soon as I had the chance. I made a little drawing (maybe I'll take a picture of it tomorrow to share, just out of curiosity) and I was completely captivated by the song.

Radiohead's "No Surprises" is very self-explanatory, but beyond that, it's also prophetic and suspiciously playful with its words and phrases when weaving together events, sorrows, longings, and various details that didn't become obvious until years later.

It's curious that there's one song, just one, among thousands of favorite songs, among hundreds of essential tracks, atop the sacred tree of all my years processing music, that defines your past, present, and future life.
