This week's #WednesdayWave for World Soundtrack Awards is my tribute to the film composer. I started collecting soundtracks as a teenager — often before even seeing the film. This is a selection of some of that music completed with some tracks I fell in love with while programming at Film Fest Gent
saddened by the passing of Émilie Dequenne. In 2022, we had the honor of welcoming her for the premiere of Lukas Dhont's film "Close" at the opening of the 49th Film Fest Gent. Her remarkable talent and warm presence left an indelible mark on all of us. rip

In Chantal Akerman's delightful GOLDEN EIGHTIES (1986) private affairs are conducted in public places. Cristina Álvarez López and Adrian Martin made a video essay for Film Fest Gent that shows how Akerman undermines the categories and conventions of fiction film.
