I’m so very sorry. Especially because of your more personal connection. We’re all out here hurting, too.
We just finished, and loved it! So inspiring. We especially enjoyed the actors shifting characters. That was great!
Lemme tell you, I slide on over to the G section of every airport bookstore I can find, and open every copy. I have no shame and it’s a lot of fun, imagining maybe Neil has been here. Like opening Wonka bars.
This is similar to the utterly gross losses I see in healthcare insurance. More bureaucracy means less patient care. I have seen this drastically firsthand over the course of the past 15 years or so.
😦
Woohoo! Got mah tickets for the 3D!
Neil is always the right answer!
Oh me too! Have you ever seen his wonderful encounter with Philomena Cunk from Cunk On Britain? I laughed and clapped all the way through!
Oh lord, I just stirred up so much dust hunting for my copy of Ronald Hutton’s Triumph Of The Moon because I recalled he had something to say about this chapter. Really it was more of a discussion of the roots of the “rural English Pan” as a bit of a Christ figure and origin of the Neopagan God.
There’s something so perfect in knowing you own that particular painting.
I am so excited, I got the announcement today. Am currently wheedling some friends into going with us!
Anything Gorey illustrated would also be great! Start with his little edition of The Jumblies!
Aww, shoot. I just bought Blueberry Girl for my twin nieces a week ago.
This immediately brought to mind that line in The Music Man. “DIRTY books. Balzac…RABELAIS!”
Yeah really
OMG this made my day
My quite old copy has the Marc Simont ones and I do find them charming, especially the Golux who looks like Michael Palin to me. Wahey, I just looked that version up on Amazon and guess whose name is on the reprinted cover with an introduction? @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com strikes again!
Oh how beautiful
I gave this to my four year old twin nieces this year ❤️
Hey I didn’t know Searle illustrated an edition of The 13 Clocks! I have to find that version. I wanna see his take on the “indescribable hat”.
Thank you! I have a little fund raising group of that name set up on Discord, as a way of helping towards some of Michael Sheen’s favorite charities. We’re just finished with the Homeless World Cup and soon to start Thrive Women’s Aid . discord.gg/fBZkA3S5
For heaven’s sake with the language police. Usage changes. Older change isn’t somehow more acceptable than more recent change.
That’s interesting, I always read “nonplussed” as “brought to a stand”, such as through irony or astonishment, or other inability to react, in every usage. I learned all my language from context in books so no idea why I never distinguished between that and usage meaning “to refrain from reacting”.
Ha!
Ugh. And “art books” that consist of images clearly stolen from the web, often so fuzzy they show no markmaking at all and are of zero value for study. I had some money go up in smoke trying to find a book of Pierre-Paul Prud’hon drawings, and finally had to invest in an old book to get real prints.
Himself.
In which Darth Vader visits the petting zoo.
Wahahahaha!
