When I was a little girl
I remember asking
The grownups

Why??

Why would the grownups in charge
Be okay with war
And killing children

And they all told me
I was too young to understand
I would understand when I was older

And now
I am older

And I still do not understand.

‘There is the right surgeon for you’: Ottawa teacher opens up about living with pain from endometriosis An Ottawa Grade 1 teacher is sharing her story in hopes of supporting her surgeon’s push to make the capital a centre of excellence for patients living with endometriosis.

“There’s absolutely no investment in endometriosis clinical care as a priority anywhere right now…”

We need to prioritize women’s health.

Birds are flying toward a castle with several red-roofed towers built at the top of an enormous oak tree. The sky is blue and there are wispy clouds. The tree is full of orange leaves and there are red and yellow trees in the distance. The image is bordered by a red, yellow, and blue, uh... border, with little stars and patterns.

On the Queen's seventh birthday, brids from across the warbler realm were flocking to Oakcliffe Castle to take part in the festivities. (The first letter is illustrated in its own cute little box, technically termed an historiated initial, like in medieval manuscripts)

Dear American Friends:

Stay peaceful today.

Stand up for what’s right.

Use your voices, not your fists.

Stay safe.

The cruelty in today's politics feels horribly corrosive. Bringing up that hard-working immigrant families — undocumented, yes, but not violent criminals — are being ripped apart based on immigration status doesn't bring compassion or even pause, but gleeful cheers.

You don’t improve things by destroying them, you improve them by improving them. We all want better health, but eliminating lifesaving chronic disease programs delivers the opposite.

Canadians will vote tomorrow in the most emotional election since 1988. I have my own preference. But I note: no one doubts that the vote will be free and fair - or that the loser will peacefully accept the voters' decision. That may not sound much. It's more than others have.

I love our elections #cdnpoli
The paper ballots. The cardboard ballot boxes. The poll workers who really just want to help make it possible for you to vote. The temp hires at Elections Canada who count things up. The media reminders to go vote before polls close.
It’s all great and too fragile.

Regardless of who wins, I hope that people can start to move past the toxic politics of the last few years. Conservatives have to start realizing that the "F' Everybody" signs and attitudes don't build credibility. #cdnpoli

Keep calm and Carney on.

Keep calm and Carney on.

It’s our election day.

It’s our day to show the world Canada’s decency, compassion and strength.

It’s our day to show our children that Canada is owned only by them.

That’s the Canada our parents gave us. Today is our day to pay it forward.

If you’re in line when the polls close, stay in line. You can still cast your ballot. Your vote matters.
