a bit unhappy that the talks about being trans & Palestinian in academia were concurrent with other science talks #ESEB2025. How will these inspiring people’s stories percolate / get everyone to reflect if the schedule selects for attendance only by those who are already sympathetic?
Very pleased to see this officially out - Genome Architecture and Speciation in Plants and Animals. With @siluwang.bsky.social, @dortizba.bsky.social and Loren Rieseberg. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Genome Size Reduction Under Non-Adaptive Evolution: How Evolution Halved Genome Size During an Oceanic Island Radiation. Today talk by Sara Guirao-Rico in @eseb2025.bsky.social congress, and accepted ms. in MBE academic.oup.com/mbe/advance-...
Excited to present our research on deep-sea fish vision at #eseb2025. Thanks everyone for coming to my talk!
Thanks to Sofia and May Sheday for the courageous and inspiring talks! The scientific world cannot remain silent @eseb2025.bsky.social #ESEB2025 #inclusivity 🏳️🌈 #transrights 🏳️⚧️ #freepalestine 🇵🇸
What an intriguing idea, #ESEB!
Another way to save CO2 emissions is to offer exclusively vegetarian and vegan food (like The British Ecological Society in their annual meetings) - system change is possible, @eseb.bsky.social
I would be super keen to help organise the meeting in Munich.
With #eseb2025 coming to a close, it is time to start making plans for 2026. Interested in the interface of evolution 🧬 and ecology 🌳? Come to our #ExE conference hosted by @uniexecec.bsky.social in beautiful #Cornwall. Leave your email address at tinyurl.com/EvolxEcol to join our mailing list!
@eseb.bsky.social would be amazing to see the diversity in this eseb eo card truly more reflected in the list of plenary and invited speakers of this conference!
Come check out my poster at #ESEB2025 No.208 if you are interested in sexual dimorphism, sexual conficts (resource competition), eco-evolutionary dynamics, population models etc.!
Looking forward to talking to you and getting inspiration for my upcoming PhD projects :D
We had to make the same choice recently & went for RADseq due to lower costs. lcWGS does seem like overkill for QTL mapping even though it blends into my existing pipelines better. Curious to see what others think.
Check out our new preprint with
@oleseehausen.bsky.social @davidmarques.bsky.social & others! We show how combining a finite set of genomic trait modules in different ways—like Lego pieces—can drive the rapid and simultaneous emergence of species richness over a very short timespan.
Check out our new preprint exploring the dynamic evolution of gene and isoform regulation in the amazing adaptive radiations of cichlid fishes from Lake Victoria, Malawi and Tanganyika! @unibe.ch @eawag.bsky.social @uni-graz.at @oleseehausen.bsky.social
