"Why is the NHS so expensive?" A question I get asked more than I would like, and one that's really not as simple as some folk would have you believe. It's not foreigners though.
One societal issue though that is a major cause of NHS cost: Healthy life expectancy.

Any pubs showing the nuclear war tonight ? Not looking for anywhere ticketed not worth it.
Though we don't know how much of that investment was related to the adoption of the protocol rather Bluesky as an example of the protocol.
I'd guess that the 1 million active users indicates that Bluesky doesn't cost a vast amount in terms of month on month operating costs
Aren't the agglomeration arguments generally that it is a combination of a high density urban population and effective transit systems.
Have the US been successful in the former to the extent that the latter has become less relevant?
A beige brick wall with a central section of mismatched bricks forming a patch-like rectangle, casting light shadows; conveys a sense of oddity.
Definitely coming back here when I unlock bombs.
So, are US Christians generally ok with their President ranting about sending an entire nation to hell on their most holy day?
It seems like the sort of thing where you'd need to make outrageous mental contortions to justify it
When you say "Bluesky costs a lot to run" I'm not sure what you mean. I can't find any figures anywhere that give me a sense of how much it costs to run. I know they've raised $128m but $100m of that is in the last year so obviously didn't support previous year's costs
Yeah, voting as you're told, publicly owning barely thought through policy and sorting out missed bin collections & cruel immigration decisions can't give a lot of job satisfaction

the ancient curse
To those who celebrate it...
I'm not an economist. But I know that trying to subsidise demand in a supply crisis is one of the stupidest things you can do, and every major party in opposition is wanting to do it
Have you read any of Peter Hamilton's books? They have some great concepts in them

It's annoying that for the last seven hours of the Avatar story there isn't any being an avatar.
It's just a long story about how bad whaling is.

It was odd the other day telling the rest of the world that he will walk away and the rest of the world will need to sort out it's own key fuel without realising the US imports a lot of it's jet fuel from South Korea.
The kids are alright, part 94. It’s us old guys that are the problem.
My memory of the Pitt is vague now but I didn't think his character had enough to present a challenge beyond just throwing in "I used to work in Chicago"
I just thought they could call him John and then deny all knowledge of ER. That would be the bold move
I'm still angry that Noah Wyle isn't playing John Carter just working in a new hospital many years later.
I've been out of it for a few months now but before I left every conversation started with "when will you know if you've kept your job?"
That might have been why it took three goes. They're a bit picky about using other people's faces
They need to be honest with us now. There is going to be panic buying at some point. That might be better before the lack of supply hits us in two weeks. People will remember being told it will probably be fine
For narrative consistency you should listen to Beef 2024 but so much has happened in the world of beef it seems like old news now
Just remembering how good Bowie was at losing his marker.
"Sex slave' woman wanted for burglary A WOMAN who had five pitbull puppies cloned in South Korea is wanted in Tennessee on burglary charges, lawyers there said today. Joyce MeKinney, 58, was accused of telling a 15-year-old boy to burgle a house to raise cash to buy a false leg for a horse. She fled Britain in 1977 to avoid a trial for allegedly abducting a Mermon missionary and making him her sex slave.
Every sentence brings something new to the madness. Stick it on CEEFAX.
The Conservatives in Birmingham are only ever campaigning to consolidate their vote not win power. When they got power in 2004 nobody was more surprised than they were and they really didn't enjoy it
Lol the idea that public health will be improved by "standing up" is just one of those fanciful ideas that young people have
There's a lot of it about
There's a live case in the ICJ against Myanmar for genocide. That doesn't sound like the sort of country you should enthusiastically return people to
