If Trump ends up bombing the power plants — and at this point, who knows — it will have all happened stupidly, recklessly quickly.

Think of the TACOs instead as steps along the way, and many of Trump’s mad threats have ended up coming true with remarkable speed.
In the big picture, things have ended up faaaaaaar closer to his initial threats than the status quo ante, even if there have been several TACOs along the way.
I know the consensus is that Trump always chickens out, but this cycle is the pattern by which we’ve gone from January 2025 to *gestures sweepingly* 2026.
TACO is often a process; it ends up in a place that can look a lot like him following through with his madness.
This is a really important point. It’s become clear that many of the conservative justices are as terminally Fox-brained as any garden variety red-hatted rube.
They make this. It is good.
Signed, a parent of two boys under age 5.
So, is Bluesky just dead now or what?
Cause, I mean, that would be fine. For the most part.
Counterpoint: I use em dashes with abandon and will not let "AI" steal them from me. I was overusing them first and will continue to do so long after "AI" is a crater in our financial system, or our merciless overlords, or both
I mean.
To find your perfect passages, pages and chapters that make up your canon, you must read the work in full.
To know a passage so that it lives in your head and never leaves, reading the thing in full is not negotiable.
Do not bring me a summary.
A thing I’ve learned from years of writing about markets and the economy is that markets can stay irrational long after fundamentals have turned
The whole damn point of reading is to find those specific passages you must reread over again for the rest of your life, while you build your own personal canon of perfect sentences and paragraphs.
To understand the text. You must read the words. And then reread them.
Do not bring me a summary.
Think Adventure Time for younger kids.
Maybe 5+? Has magic and some fantasy, kinda DnD-style peril.
If they’ve watched a Disney movie, they should be fine.
I get the sense that Apple TV's kids fare goes almost entirely unheralded and largely unwatched, but this is such a good one.
My kid is all in on a serialized narrative!
PSA: "Wolfboy and the Everything Factory" on Apple TV is a *wonderful* kids show.
One of the busiest parks in Toronto and as usual, it looks like trash. Staff destroying the landscapes they’re supposed to care for by driving full-size pickups through them. Incoherent design. Poor construction. Ugly fixtures. Somebody should lose their job over this.
“Dying shoe company becomes compute provider” is easily the best bubble story we have seen so far
just incredible that while the last shipments out of the strait are finally rolling in and there’s nothing coming behind them, the entire executive branch are obsessed with winning online flame wars with the pope
*That* last play was better.
I can't believe how bad that last play was from LaMelo.
The two of us, watching the last minute of NBA play-in basketball overtime.
Yeah, well. I haven't posted there in 3 years.
If the various CMNT follower accounts wanted to come here instead and post all those clips to the top of my feed, I would appreciate that.
I now exclusively use X to check how various Canadian soccer players are doing on any given day.
Thing is: the algorithm is *shockingly* good at knowing I'm only here to see if Cyle Larin scored again; yes, I want to see a clip.
It nails me 100%.
If I used it for news, I wouldn't stand a chance.
Says a lot about JD Vance that he would go and say something that's every bit as stupid as "the pope is WEAK on crime," but it's not close to 1/10th as funny.
The Vatican wants this smoke!
And, I mean, “Jesus rejects your prayers” is an absolute all-timer of a shot at Trump and his ilk.
Not only is it a two-way feud, fight, whatever, Leo is so thoroughly winning that the best argument against this wording may be that Trump is hardly putting up a contest.
Sure. But Leo is not exactly being subtle about using his status as an American pope to speak out directly in opposition to Trump.
He is quite obviously 100% game for this.
And, to be clear: I am all for it.
Oh god, this will be unpopular, but:
I don’t think it’s inaccurate or wrong to say Trump and the Pope are in some version of a “feud” or equivalent wording.
Leo is obviously using his platform to speak out unusually directly in opposition to Trump.
He’s morally right, but not passive.
he's counting on people not knowing what a doctor looks like because they don't have healthcare
