“I have far more at stake to lose than any other source in this piece” -- Wesley Lowery.
If those were the last words he ever gets published this side of a newsletter, they are fitting. www.cjr.org/feature-2/we...

Some of y’all noticed I’ve been uncharacteristically offline. This is why, and I remain on leave for a few weeks to handle a PTSD relapse. CJR was dogged in its pursuit of my story. Because of what I do and who I am, I felt that I had to answer their questions honestly.

One thing that’s striking to be about this (excellent) account is that Lowery was confronted privately about how his conduct made his victims feel MULTIPLE times and did not commit to changing his behavior until he started to see professional consequences
Lol would you believe I am the first person to use BOTH of these hashtags
I'd tag Carr but I think he's on his buddy's site #GoldTrumpBroach #SimpsForElon
Thanks for the photo Cheryl 😀 As always, the chats after the event are just as worthwhile as the panels - it was so valuable to talk about how we can do more effective #coalitionwork against corporate power in telecom and media! Let's #DeleteDeleteDelete the industry lies in these FCC dockets 😤
NEW LETTER: We joined @civilrightsorg.bsky.social & @weareunidosus.bsky.social to demand the Senate delay Olivia Trusty’s FCC confirmation until assurance from the Trump admin that the agency remains fully staffed. FTC firings are a warning—independent agencies must be protected!
Expecting Big Law firms that are tightly intertwined with and enriched by concentrated corporate power not to cave assumes that they were on the side of human liberty and equality to begin with. I don't think they were.
“Attack plans” and “war plans” are very different according to @SecDef, because apparently, it doesn’t matter if anyone in the world finds out about attack plans.
Whenever our troops are going into harm’s way, info security matters. Resign.
"The Trump administration is seeking to deport Mr. Khalil simply because he is a dedicated Palestinian human-rights defender who has spoken out against Israel's assault on Gaza, and against the U.S. and Columbia University's complicity. " — Samah Sisay
These are two great public servants!

Commissioner Gomez speaks at a SHLB press conference in support of USF.
For decades, the Universal Service Fund has stood as a promise to the American people that no community will be left behind in the digital age.
We must honor that promise.
The stakes are too high to turn back now. #ProtectUSF

Is this a nation of laws? I wind up asking this question daily, and it is not rhetorical. Trump has just attempted to fire two democratic Federal Trade Commission Commissioners. The FTC is an important consumer protection agency.

I'm listening this morning to the case being heard in St. Paul - Zimmer v. FCC - the case challenging the FCC's decision to maintain broadcast rules to promote localism and competition.
it is truly wild that, as the authors here note, every argument against the plain text reading of the citizenship clause requires twists, turns, contortions and leaps that would make simone biles look like an amateur
There’s bipartisan agreement that reliable, affordable broadband is a necessity, networks should be resilient and keep up with demand, and no community should be left behind.
But building broadband networks to meet those goals is complicated. We have to do it right.
House Republicans are pro-listeria.
They added a rider to the Agriculture spending bill that would impede the FDA from issuing a new rule or guidance to prevent listeria from contaminating our food.
Congress must remove all the poison pills from any final spending package.
Catch this great thread from @agomezfcc.bsky.social !
Verizon has a merger pending before the #FCC. Chair Carr already explicitly announced that private companies must pledge ideological fealty to this administration if they want to get a merger approved.

Republicans are lying when they say their budget does not cut Medicaid.
It directs our Committee to cut at least $880 billion, and 98% of what’s available to cut is either Medicare or Medicaid.
Trump says not to touch Medicare, so cuts have to come from Medicaid.

“[F]reedoms of speech and of the press are among the great bulwarks of liberty, and can never be restrained except by despotic governments.”
-George Mason
I offered an amendment to ensure Energy & Commerce protects free speech and press from FCC overreach.
Republicans voted no.
